Towards Low-carbon Power Networks: Optimal Integration of Renewable Energy Sources and Hydrogen Storage [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
This paper proposes a new optimization model and solution method for determining optimal locations and sizing of renewable energy sources and hydrogen storage in a power network. We obtain these strategic decisions based on the multi-period alternating current optimal power (AC OPF) flow problem that considers the uncertainty of renewable output ...

A Simulative Approach for the Prediction of Mesoscale Residual Stress Fields in Solution‐Strengthened Ferritic Ductile Iron

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a 3D representative volume element‐based simulation approach to predict mesoscopic residual stress and strain fields in silicon solid solution‐strengthened ductile cast iron. By modeling phase transformation kinetics with an enhanced Johnson–Mehl–Avrami–Kolmogorov model, the effects of varying cooling rates on residual stresses are ...

Energy efficiency in steam using industries in Greece

open access: yesInternational Journal of Sustainable Energy, 2020
The industry sector in Greece is responsible for one-quarter of the overall total final energy consumption accounting for 3.8 Mtoe in 2015. Since 2007, a 29% decrease is noted due to the financial crisis.

Optimal Workload Allocation for Distributed Edge Clouds With Renewable Energy and Battery Storage [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
This paper studies an optimal workload allocation problem for a network of renewable energy-powered edge clouds that serve users located across various geographical areas. Specifically, each edge cloud is furnished with both an on-site renewable energy generation unit and a battery storage unit.

Efficient and Scalable Radiative Cooling for Photovoltaics Using Solution‐Processable and Solar‐Transparent Mesoporous Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Graded refractive index (GRI) structures are prepared from the layer‐by‐layer spray coating of the mesoporous SiO2 nanoparticles, showing high solar transparency and thermal emissivity. Under outdoor conditions, after 50 days, the GRI‐coated photovoltaics show on average 6.65 ± 1.48 °C lower than that of the non‐coated references, maintaining 80.9 ± 8 ...

Stabilized Intermediate Phase Via Pseudo‐Halide Anions Toward Highly Efficient and Light‐Soaking Stable Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
The formate pseudo‐halide anion is strategically introduced at the buried interface to stabilize the intermediate phases formed during perovskite crystallization. The controlled crystallization enhances crystallinity and alleviates tensile strain, eliminating residual PbI2 near the buried interface.

An independent analysis of bias sources and variability in wind plant pre‐construction energy yield estimation methods

open access: yesWind Energy, 2022
The wind resource assessment community has long had the goal of reducing the bias between wind plant pre‐construction energy yield assessment (EYA) and the observed annual energy production (AEP).
