By using (meso)porous N‐doped carbon nanospheres with tailored intraparticle porosity and constant particle size as conductive carbon in PVMPT‐based organic battery electrodes, the complete volume of the carbon is accessible for the immobilization of PVMPT, resulting in high accessible specific capacities while maintaining a good rate capability and ...

Catalytic carbon–carbon bond cleavage in lignin via manganese–zirconium-mediated autoxidation
Efforts to produce aromatic monomers through catalytic lignin depolymerization have historically focused on aryl–ether bond cleavage. A large fraction of aromatic monomers in lignin, however, are linked by various carbon–carbon (C–C) bonds that are more ...

Abandoning the concept of renewable energy
Renewable energy is a widely used term that describes certain types of energy production. In politics, business and academia, renewable energy is often framed as the key solution to the global climate challenge. We, however, argue that the concept of renewable energy is problematic and should be abandoned in favor of more unambiguous conceptualization ...

Near‐Field Phonon Nanoscopy and Imaging of Structural Variants in Mixed Phase BiFeO3
Nano‐Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scattering scanning near‐field optical microscopy imaging reveal the phonon response of nanoscale phase variants in mixed‐phase BiFeO3 (BFO). Direct mid‐infrared imaging of associated distinct vibrational signatures is used as a non‐invasive optical detection method for electrical switching of ...

Reliability and Market Price of Energy in the Presence of Intermittent and Non-Dispatchable Renewable Energies [PDF]
The intermittent nature of the renewable energies increases the operation costs of conventional generators. As the share of energy supplied by renewable sources increases, these costs also increase. In this paper, we quantify these costs by developing a market clearing price of energy in the presence of renewable energy and congestion constraints.

An Energy Professionals\u27 Networking Group that\u27s Creating a Buzz
Bleary-eyed but wide awake at 2:00 am, I reached for my phone for a little social media solace. Clicking into a popular networking site, I typed energy in the search field. To my surprise, the search returned a list of over 10,000 options.
