Control of systems that store renewable energy

Proceedings of the 5th international conference on Future energy systems, 2014
This paper studies the control of systems that store renewable energy. The problem is to maximize the long-term utility of the energy by controlling how it is used. The methodology for designing the control policy depends on the size of the battery. If the battery is small, the control policy is determined by solving a Markov decision problem.

Diagrams for energy management in renewable energy systems

2017 MIXDES - 24th International Conference "Mixed Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems, 2017
The paper presents an approach to making the complete energy management diagrams for a system composed of renewable energy generators, utility-grid connections and a number of various energy storages. The method is very general and can be applicable to almost arbitrary system configuration that can be defined by components and rules.

Seasonal Energy Storage in a Renewable Energy System

Proceedings of the IEEE, 2012
Because of a concern that in developing transitional energy systems the endpoint system requirements should be kept in mind, this paper focuses on storage in a renewable energy system that uses no fossil fuels. Based largely on the current seasonal patterns of consumption and wind and solar energy generated, it is estimated that the energy storage ...

Renewable energy resources in energy management systems

2010 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Conference Europe (ISGT Europe), 2010
In response to the ever increasing amount of Renewable Energy Resources production integrated in Power Systems, Energy Management Systems (EMS) used for decades in control centers to manage power flows need to adapt. This paper aims at providing detailed understanding of impacts on “standard” EMS functions of these new sources of productions.

Expert System for New and Renewable Energies

2002
In an energy market where the energy networks reach almost all the sites, as the European one, the continuity of the required energy supply is perceived as a “must” from the end users. The number and the temporal extension of any “black out” along the year is regarded as a qualifying parameter to evaluate the performance of each Utility. As a matter of
