Gas storage in renewable bioclathrates
Energy Environ. Sci., 2013Methane and carbon dioxide can be stored in ‘bioclathrate’ form—that is, as a clathrate supported in a biological structure—by using plants or fungi to greatly accelerate clathrate formation kinetics, thus avoiding the use of energy-intensive mixing technologies or petrochemically derived materials.

Projects, oil and gas, renewables
2015Since 2015, Nanos Research has conducted national public opinion surveys in partnership with Positive Energy. This first (telephone and online) survey gauged interest, beliefs and attitudes of 1000 Canadians on: development of energy and environmental concern, leadership on policies affecting climate change and hydrocarbon pipelines, and weighing local

Natural Gas and Renewable Methane
2016According to current thinking, natural gas is a fossil energy carrier that, just like oil, underwent organic transformation under high pressure and in the absence of oxygen in the interior of the earth and therefore its composition as a naturally occurring product varies according to its geological source.

Many studies have analyzed the energy mix at national and continental scales, suggesting different low-carbon mixes for future energy systems. While there is abundant literature on the energy mix for different sectors, fewer studies deal with the impact of sector-coupling on achieving the goal of deep decarbonization, with limited representation of ...

An Introduction to Renewable Gas
2015Comfort-loving citizens in the Northern Hemisphere have good reason to take an interest in the future of gas, particularly since the demand for energy from Natural Gas in winter can be several times higher than the consumption of electrical energy (DECC, 2014a), and the rates of insulation renovations for old, draughty buildings can be slow.

Gas renewal in the horizontal furnace of a thermobalance
Thermochimica Acta, 2004The time delay needed to renew the atmosphere inside the furnace of a thermogravimeter is a key parameter while studying the very early stages of chemical reactions involving a reactive gas. In this paper, we report the time evolution of oxygen partial pressure in a cylindrical horizontal furnace.

The Technology of Renewable Gas
2015In the development of a Renewable Gas system using the generic design elements previously described, there are a number of “pinch points” — process steps which could benefit from further research and development where the current articulations of the technologies have snags or pitfalls.

Renewable-Based Gas Systems in Austria
2019This chapter is about the potential production volumes of sustainably produced, bio-based methane (CH4) from anaerobic digestion, and synthetic natural gas. It refers to power-to-gas processes. Though based on the ground reality in Austria, the insights and learnings are useful for other countries too.
