Regularization, renormalization, and renormalization groups

open access: yes, 2011
This paper confronts renormalization used in quantum field theory and that used in critical phenomena studies in statistical mechanics or dynamical systems theory. Regularization that cures spurious divergences is distinguished from renormalization transformations allowing to compute actual physical divergences.

From Molecules to Bioaggregates: Unraveling the Photoexcitation Dynamics of Intracellularly Self‐Assembled Thiophene‐Based Fibers

open access: yesSmall Science, EarlyView.
Cell‐guided self‐assembly of thiophene based molecules inside living cells produces photostable, biocompatible nanofibers exhibiting J‐like excitonic coupling and stimulated emission. Integrated spectroscopic and quantum‐chemical analyses reveal unique photophysical behavior and low phototoxicity, positioning these supramolecular structures as ...

Discrimination of Tryptophan Enantiomers at Sub‐pm Level by Multiparametric Analysis of a Label‐Free Organic Immunosensor

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
Multiparametric analysis is a crucial aspect for enhancing the final sensitivity of biosensors based on organic transistors. The traditional approaches to treat the experimental data are not always suitable to extract the correct response. In this work EGOT characteristics are processed to achieve enantiodiscrimination of free Tryptophan enantiomers ...

Time Scales of Slow-Roll Inflation in Asymptotically Safe Cosmology

open access: yesUniverse
Making use of the well-known renormalization group (RG) scale dependences of the gravitational couplings in the framework of the two-parameter Einstein–Hilbert (EH) theory of gravity, the single scalar field-driven cosmological inflation is discussed in ...

Redefining Graphene Oxide: The Role of Organosulfate Groups in Charging Dynamics and Colloidal Stability

open access: yesSmall Structures, EarlyView.
This work redefines graphene oxide (GO) as a 2D polyelectrolyte by revealing the dominant role of organosulfate groups in its charging dynamics and stability. Challenging conventional models, the findings offer a predictive framework for the design and optimization of GO‐based membranes, electrodes, and nanomaterials across diverse technologies ...

Trees in Renorming Theory

open access: yesProceedings of the London Mathematical Society, 1999
Trees are very agreeable objects to work with, offering a diversity of behaviour within a structure that is sufficiently simple to admit precise analysis. Thus we are able to offer fairly satisfactory necessary and sufficient conditions on a tree $ $ for the existence of equivalent LUR or strictly convex norms on $\C_0( )$ and for norms with the ...

Tailoring the Electron Density of Functional Groups for Controlled Charge Transfer in SWCNTs

open access: yesSmall Structures, EarlyView.
This article presents a molecular design strategy enabling precise charge transfer control in single‐walled carbon nanotubes at the single‐particle level. Through systematic assembly of aniline‐methoxy units on triazine anchors, tunable electron donation and withdrawal are achieved, shifting the Fermi level up or down over hundreds of ...
