Rays to renormalizations [PDF]
Let P be a non-linear polynomial, K_P the filled Julia set of P, f a renormalization of P and K_f the filled Julia set of f. We show, loosely speaking, that there is a finite-to-one function from the set of P-external rays having limit points in K_f onto the set of f-external rays to K_f such that R and (R) share the same limit set.

Hard-soft renormalization and the exact renormalization group [PDF]
The Wilsonian exact renormalization group gives a natural framework in which ultraviolet and infrared divergences can be treated separately. In massless QED we introduce, as the only mass parameter, a renormalization scale $ _R > 0$. We prove, using the flow equation technique, that infrared convergence is a necessary consequence of any zero ...

Renormalization of Galilean electrodynamics [PDF]
AbstractWe study the quantum properties of a Galilean-invariant abelian gauge theory coupled to a Schrödinger scalar in 2+1 dimensions. At the classical level, the theory with minimal coupling is obtained from a null-reduction of relativistic Maxwell theory coupled to a complex scalar field in 3+1 dimensions and is closely related to the Galilean ...

Solutions of the Aw-Rascle-Zhang system with point constraints
We revisit the entropy formulation and the wave-front tracking construction of physically admissible solutions of the Aw-Rascle and Zhang (ARZ) ``second-order'' model for vehicular traffic.A Kruzhkov-like family of entropies is introduced to select the ...

Assessing a Mitochondrial Disease Treatment via a Novel Statistical Technique for Accelerometer Data
ABSTRACT Objective Therapeutic development for mitochondrial diseases, rare genetic disorders with pathogenic defects of oxidative phosphorylation, is hindered by unsatisfactory outcome measures. To address this problem, we provide the first clinical application of a novel, bias‐adjusted outcome measure of acceleration across a range of subjects ...

Quantum Fields and the Cosmological Constant
It has been shown that if one solves self-consistently the semiclassical Einstein equations in the presence of a quantum scalar field, with a cutoff on the number of modes, spacetime become flatter when the cutoff increases. Here, we extend the result to

Vacuum Polarization in a Zero-Width Potential: Self-Adjoint Extension
The effects of vacuum polarization associated with a massless scalar field near pointlike source with a zero-range potential in three spatial dimensions are analyzed.

Renormalization scheme dependence and renormalization group summation [PDF]
We consider logarithmic contributions to the free energy, instanton effective action, and Laplace sum rules in QCD that are a consequence of radiative corrections. Upon summing these contributions by using the renormalization group, all dependence on the renormalization scale parameter μ cancels.
