Penetrating Renovascular Trauma

The Journal of Trauma: Injury, Infection, and Critical Care, 1989
A 10-year experience with 39 patients having 40 renovascular injuries is presented. The overall mortality rate was 30%, predominantly from extensive associated trauma. Nephrectomy was performed in 20 patients (51%). Only 50% of the patients had attempted repair or ligation of the renal vessels.

Management of Renovascular Hypertension

Techniques in Vascular and Interventional Radiology, 2016
Renal artery stenosis is a potentially reversible cause of hypertension, and transcatheter techniques are essential to its treatment. Angioplasty remains a first-line treatment for stenosis secondary to fibromuscular dysplasia. Renal artery stenting is commonly used in atherosclerotic renal artery stenosis, although recent trials have cast doubts upon ...

Evaluation of renovascular hypertension

Current Opinion in Nephrology and Hypertension, 1993
Many tests are available for the evaluation of renovascular hypertension; each of these has its own advantages and disadvantages as a screening test. The nonimaging tests include measurement of peripheral plasma renin activity, the captopril test, and renal vein renin sampling, all of which have inherent limitations.

Renovascular disease in childhood

The Journal of Pediatrics, 1992
Fifty-four children referred for investigation of hypertension had renovascular disease. In eight patients it was associated with neurofibromatosis, in three with idiopathic hypercalcemia of infancy, and in five cases it followed an arteritic illness. Fibromuscular dysplasia was the underlying abnormality in the majority of cases (46%).

The Pathophysiology of Renovascular Hypertension

Urologic Clinics of North America, 1975
Renovascular hypertension, comprising a small percentage of the total hypertensive population, stands out as remarkably important, being the most common cause of surgically correctable hypertension. Its precise diagnosis can be accomplished by judicious application of recently available sophisticated laboratory methods and correct prediction of ...

Renovascular Hypertension in Children

Pediatric Clinics of North America, 1993
Renal arteriography remains the only study to identify and define correctly both location and extent of renal artery stenosis. Because other studies do not adequately identify all children who have renal artery disease, it is reasonable to perform renal arteriography in those children with severe hypertension who do not have another readily ...

Screening for Renovascular Hypertension

Radiologic Clinics of North America, 1991
The most common curable cause of high blood pressure is renovascular hypertension. Although hypertension is common in the United States, only a minority, approximately 1%, of patients have a renovascular cause. Using clinical criteria, a subgroup of these patients can be selected in which the prevalence of renovascular hypertension will be ...

The diagnosis of renovascular disease

Pediatric Nephrology, 1997
Renovascular disease is an important cause of remediable hypertension in childhood. Specific diagnostic procedures currently available to investigate affected children include Doppler and computed duplex sonography, angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor sensitisation of radionuclide imaging, captopril-stimulated plasma renin activity ...

Unusual Renovascular Disorders

Urologic Clinics of North America, 1984
Apart from the usually seen diseases of the renal artery, there exists a group of disorders that occur less frequently and rarely show up as a primary disease process. Arteriovenous malformations and renal artery aneurysms are examples of these conditions.
