This paper introduces Textured Renyi Entropy for image thresholding based on a novel combination mechanism. The Renyi Entropy is extended by modifying its priori, while still preserving overall functionality. An optional priori is introduced to improve accuracy.

Renyi entropy properties of mixed systems

ABSTRACTThis paper deals with Renyi information properties of mixed systems when lifetimes of components are independent and identically distributed. The provided results are obtained by using the concept of Samaniego’s signature. Stochastic comparisons of Renyi entropy for mixed systems are discussed provided that both systems have the same signature.

In this paper, we discuss the calculation of Renyi entropy in a set of consecutive order statistics (OS) and a set of progressively Type-II censored OS . We propose a useful, but indirect, computational approach for computing the Renyi entropy of consecutive order statistics that simplifies the calculations.

Investigating the Kapur et al. image thresholding method, we found, that taking the sum of the Reny's entropies as a criterion for threshold selection instead of the Shannon's entropies, can result in a better image segmentation in the sense of greater uniformity of the partitioned segments.
