Endometrial expression of key genes related to fertility in repeat breeder and non‐repeat breeder cows

Reproduction in Domestic Animals, 2020
AbstractThe aim of the present study was to compare the endometrial gene expression of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), nodal growth differentiation factor (NODAL), prostaglandin‐endoperoxide synthase 2 (PTGS2), oestrogen receptor 1 (ESR1) and progesterone receptor (PGR) in repeat breeder cows (RBC) and non‐RBC during diestrus.

Repeat breeder cow

The Bovine Practitioner, 1999
Cows that fail to become pregnant after 3 inseminations may be termed repeat breeders (RBs).This paper reviews the incidence, economics, etiology and management of the RB cow. The incidence of RB in U.S. dairy herds is approximately 20% and depends on herd conception rate. Factors resulting in repeat breeding are discussed.

Evaluating sire effects on cow fertility: Timed AI and repeat-breeder dairy cows

Animal Reproduction Science, 2019
In this single herd observational study, there is investigation of the effects of 81 sires (with 11,424 artificial inseminations) on conception rates in 1790 Holstein cows for 5 years. Sires were catagorized based on the published sire conception rate (SCR) into different sire fertility groups (low, average and high fertility sires). The performance of

Intraperitoneal insemination in repeat-breeder cows: A preliminary report

Theriogenology, 1995
Intraperitoneal insemination of 62 repeat-breeder dairy cows resulted in 9 pregnancies. The pregnancy rate was not different for intraperitoneal or uterine inseminations. In nonpregnant cows, reproductive variables such as the percentage of cows returning to estrus, the average interval from insemination to the next estrus, and the pregnancy rate ...

Treatment of the repeat breeder cow syndrome in Kenya

Tropical Animal Health and Production, 1978
One hundred repeat breeder dairy cows have been studied in detail. Although clinically 60 per cent of them were normal bacteria were isolated from the uteri of the majority (90 per cent). Thirty per cent of these isolates were mixed. Intra-uterine infusion of the uteri with diluted Lugol's Iodine solution, supplemented in a few cases by antibiotic ...

Cytological endometritis diagnosed at artificial insemination in repeat breeder dairy cows

Reproduction in Domestic Animals, 2017
ContentsThis study aimed to (i) assess the prevalence of cytological endometritis (CYTO) diagnosed at artificial insemination (AI); (ii) evaluate the effect of CYTO on the pregnancy outcome of the same AI sample; and (iii) determine the risk factors associated with CYTO diagnosed at AI in repeat breeder (RB) dairy cows.

Concentrations of free radicals and beta-endorphins in repeat breeder cows

Animal Reproduction Science, 2007
Repeat breeding (RB) is one of the major problems that affect the reproductive efficiency and economy of milk production in dairy animals. So far, the etiopathogenesis of this pathology has not been defined completely. Stress has been hypothesized to be a cause of impaired reproductive efficiency.

ALTERATION OF PHYSIOLOGICAL PARAMETERS IN REPEAT BREEDER COWS

2022
Repeat breeding is a significant reproductive problem to develop in a cattle industry in developing country. In this study, we demonstrated physiological alterations in terms of hematological, biochemical and hormonal profile being developed in repeat breeder cows.

Fertilisation and embryonic survival rates in dairy cows culled as repeat breeders

Veterinary Record, 1983
Seventy-three Friesian dairy cows culled as repeat breeders were slaughtered three to six, 16 to 19 or 40 to 49 days after insemination to establish fertilisation and embryo survival rates. Fertilisation rate following a single insemination was 72 per cent.

Incidence and treatment of inadequate postovulatory progesterone concentrations in repeat breeder cows

The Veterinary Journal, 2009
The incidence of low day 5 milk progesterone in dairy cows has been investigated and the efficacy of treating the problem assessed. The incidence of inadequate milk progesterone (empirically defined as
