RACING STRESS AND CONCEPTION RATE IN REPEAT BREEDING BUFFALOES AND COWS [PDF]

open access: yesPakistan Veterinary Journal, 2004
In this study 215 buffaloes and 180 cows with the history of repeat breeding and prolonged oestrus period (>24 hours) were used. All of the animals had repeated at least twice. A total of 95 animals (50 buffaloes and 45 cows) were inseminated once, 12-18

Remote Assessment of Ataxia Severity in SCA3 Across Multiple Centers and Time Points

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a genetically defined ataxia. The Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a clinician‐reported outcome that measures ataxia severity at a single time point. In its standard application, SARA fails to capture short‐term fluctuations, limiting its sensitivity in trials.

Interfamiliar specific fertility in Italian Brown Swiss cattle

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2010
The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of interaction between sire of cow and service sire on the success/unsuccess of inseminations. Data from insemination events of Italian Brown Swiss cows collected from January 1993 through August 2007 were

Observations on the Estrous Cycles of Repeat-Breeding Dairy Heifers

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1959
Summary The average duration of heat for 97 estrous periods of 17 repeat-breeding heifers was 19 ± 4 hr. Ovulation occurred 12 ± 3 hr. after the end of heat. Failure in ovulation occurred in 18% of the estrous cycles. The repeatability for duration of heat was about 16%, but the repeatability for time of ovulation was almost zero.

Brainstem and Cerebellar Volume Loss and Associated Clinical Features in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) is a neurodegenerative ‘tauopathy’ with predominating pathology in the basal ganglia and midbrain. Caudal tau spread frequently implicates the cerebellum; however, the pattern of atrophy remains equivocal.

Repeatability of in vitro embryo production in Nellore breed

open access: yesBoletim de Indústria Animal, 2015
Recent advances in the field of animal assisted reproduction have allowed faster dissemination of animals with superior genetics. In cattle, the development of some biotechnologies such as the in vitro production (IVP) of embryos optimized the use of oocytes, which represents a great improvement in embryo production world-wide.

Heritability and Repeatability of Conception Rate of Bulls in Artificial Breeding

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1962
Summary The conception rate for bulls used in artificial breeding is defined as the proportion of cows not returning to first service within 49 days of insemination. Heritability of conception rate is estimated as 0.55±0.26 from 75 sire-son pairs in 3 yr of breeding, the sires averaging 1,792 inseminations and the sons 376.

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...
