The value of repeat hepatectomy for intrahepatic recurrence after curative resection of neuroendocrine liver metastasis (NELM) remains unclear. The aim of this retrospective cohort study was to determine the significance of repeat hepatectomy for recurrent NELM.Patients who underwent hepatectomy for NELM between 1994 and 2016 were identified.

Repeated hepatectomy for recurrent intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma
European Journal of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, 2005Repeated hepatectomy for remnant liver recurrence of primary intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is a seldom-encountered surgical technique because of its poor prognosis. Here, we present two long-term survivors of recurrent ICC by repeated hepatectomy.

Hand-assisted Laparoscopic Repeat Hepatectomy for Secondary Liver Neoplasm
Surgical Laparoscopy, Endoscopy & Percutaneous Techniques, 2020Background: Hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery is a widely accepted alternative to an open approach. The use of this technique in repeat liver resection is limited due to technical difficulties caused by postsurgical adhesions. We aimed to assess the feasibility and safety of hand-assisted laparoscopic repeat hepatectomy (HALRH)

A Rat Model of a Repeat 70% Major Hepatectomy
Journal of Surgical Research, 2006This study investigated the effects of a repeat 70% major hepatectomy in a rat model. The left lateral and median lobes of the livers of 80 seven-week-old male Wistar rats were excised during primary hepatectomy, removing a total of 70% of the liver. In 40 of the rats, the regenerated right lateral lobe, comprising 70% of the remnant liver, was excised ...

The feasibility and efficacy of pure laparoscopic repeat hepatectomy
Surgical Endoscopy, 2018Repeat hepatectomy is often required for hepatocellular carcinoma and metastatic tumors. However, this procedure is technically challenging, so laparoscopic repeat hepatectomy (LRH) has not been widely adopted. The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of LRH compared with open repeat hepatectomy (ORH) and laparoscopic primary ...

Third or more repeat hepatectomy for recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma
Surgery, 2013We sought to evaluate the surgical results of third or more repeat hepatectomy for recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The role of repeat hepatectomy for recurrent HCC, especially in cases with third or more repeat hepatectomy, is controversial. We performed A retrospective, cohort study to analyze the surgical results of repeat hepatectomy ...

Repeated hepatectomy for colorectal metastasis.
Annali italiani di chirurgia, 1998Between January 1981 and December 1995, 12 patients, who previously underwent hepatic resection for colorectal metastases, were selected for a second liver resection for isolated liver recurrence. Mean interval between first and second resection was 16 months. Eight patients had solitary and 4 multiple metastasis.

Impact of repeat hepatectomy on recurrent colorectal liver metastases
Surgery, 2001Hepatic recurrence is seen in approximately 40% of patients undergoing hepatectomy for colorectal metastases. This study was designed to assess the risks and clinical benefits of repeat hepatectomy for those patients.Twenty-six patients underwent repeat hepatectomy for hepatic recurrence, and their clinical data were retrospectively reviewed for ...

Is Laparoscopic Repeat Hepatectomy Feasible? A Tri-institutional Analysis
Journal of the American College of Surgeons, 2011A laparoscopic approach has not been advocated for repeat hepatectomy on a large scale. This report analyzes the experience of 3 institutions pioneering laparoscopic repeat liver resection (LRLR). The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility, safety, oncologic integrity, and outcomes of LRLR.All patients undergoing LRLR were identified.
