Fully automated, inline quantification of myocardial blood flow with cardiovascular magnetic resonance: repeatability of measurements in healthy subjects

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, 2018
BackgroundNon-invasive assessment of myocardial ischaemia is a cornerstone of the diagnosis of coronary artery disease. Measurement of myocardial blood flow (MBF) using positron emission tomography (PET) is the current reference standard for non-invasive

Test and fabrication of piezoresistive sensors for contact pressure measurement

open access: yesRevista Facultad de Ingeniería Universidad de Antioquia, 2017
The use of contact pressure sensors has become popular in various engineering disciplines in recent years. They are used in characterization of vehicle tires, bearings, wind tunnels, prosthesis design, ergonomic analysis among other areas. These sensors

Dataset of Partial Analytical Validation of the 1,2-O-Dilauryl-Rac-Glycero-3-Glutaric Acid-(6′-Methylresorufin) Ester (DGGR) Lipase Assay in Equine Plasma

open access: yesData, 2023
Laboratory assays require analytical validation to prove they are providing accurate results. This dataset describes the partial analytical validation of lipase activity, measured with the 1,2-o-dilauryl-rac-glycero-3-glutaric acid-(6′-methylresorufin ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

How should we interpret estimates of individual repeatability?

open access: yesEvolution Letters, 2018
Individual repeatability (R), defined as the proportion of observed variance attributable to among‐individual differences, is a widely used summary statistic in evolutionarily motivated studies of morphology, life history, physiology and, especially ...

She Always Steps in the Same River: Similarity Among Long-Term Partners in Their Demographic, Physical, and Personality Characteristics

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2019
In mate choice, individuals consider a wide pool of potential partners. It has been found that people have certain preferences, but intraindividual stability of mate choice over time remains little explored.

The anti‐CRISPR protein AcrIE8.1 inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system by directly binding to the Cascade subunit Cas11

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.

An intracellular transporter mitigates the CO2‐induced decline in iron content in Arabidopsis shoots

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study identifies a gene encoding a transmembrane protein, MIC, which contributes to the reduction of shoot Fe content observed in plants under elevated CO2. MIC is a putative Fe transporter localized to the Golgi and endosomal compartments. Its post‐translational regulation in roots may represent a potential target for improving plant nutrition ...
