[Last word on hormone replacement and breast cancer?].

Nederlands tijdschrift voor geneeskunde, 1998
A very large meta-analysis of the Collaborative Group on Hormonal Factors in Breast Cancer has revealed an increasing risk of breast cancer with longer durations of use of hormonal replacement therapy (HRT). This risk increase is restricted to current users of HRT or women who ceased use recently.

An Application-Aware Cache Replacement Policy for Last-Level Caches

2013
Current day multicore processors employ multi-level cache hierarchy with one or two levels of private caches and a shared last-level cache (LLC). Efficient cache replacement policies at LLC are essential for reducing the off-chip memory traffic as well as contention for memory bandwidth.

Efficient STT-RAM last-level-cache architecture to replace DRAM cache

Proceedings of the International Symposium on Memory Systems, 2017
Recent research has proposed die-stacked Last Level Cache (LLC) to overcome the Memory Wall. Lately, Spin-Transfer-Torque Random Access Memory (STT-RAM) caches have been recommended as they provide improved energy efficiency compared to DRAM caches. However, the recently proposed STT-RAM cache architecture unnecessarily dissipates energy by fetching ...

How Long Does a Hip Replacement Last?

Abstract Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is a successful procedure used to manage hip osteoarthritis (OA). This study aims to identify the lifespan of a prosthesis to better inform patients. It looks at two data sets consisting of (1) a systematic review and meta-analysis conducted using Embase and Medline searches to September 2017 that ...

Multiple recapture methods when sampling without replacement in the last occasion

Communications in Statistics - Theory and Methods, 1992
A technique is presented for estimating the size of a closed population from multiple recapture data when sampling is performed without replacement on the last trapping occasion. The estimator of the population size along with the variance estimator is derived from a log-linear model.

Knee and hip joint replacements. Longer lasting prostheses.

Australian family physician, 2000
Conventional hip replacement prostheses consist of a metal femoral stem and head articulating with a polyethylene acetabular component fixed to the skeleton by polymethylmethacrylate 'cement'. In these prostheses the main problems are breakdown of cement and wear of the polyethylene acetabular articulation.
