Labor Market Institutions and Labor Productivity Growth [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper I investigate how the labor productivity growth is affected from various institutions of the labor market using the empirical evidence from a panel data of OECD countries.

Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

[Heart rate disturbances after mitral valve replacement].

open access: yesVestnik khirurgii imeni I. I. Grekova, 2009
Atrial fibrillation is a typical disturbance of heart rate in patients with mitral valvular disease. Correction of the mitral valvular disease by operation of replacement (or plasty) of the mitral valve normalizes the intracardial hemodynamics resulting in clinical improvement of the patient's state and prognosis for the nearest and long-term period ...

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Labor Taxation in Search Equilibrium with Home Production. [PDF]

open access: yes
Conventional models of equilibrium unemployment typically imply that pro-portional taxes on labor earnings are neutral with respect to unemployment as long as the tax does not affect the replacement rate provided by unem-ployment insurance, i.e ...

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.
