Amputation of the penis is thankfully an uncommon injury. Because of its rarity, a uniform plan of management to deal with this difficult injury has yet to be agreed on. We describe a man who sustained such an injury and his subsequent clinical course. The relevant history and pertinent anatomy is highlighted.

Although the success of replantation and revascularization is in part related to the length of the ischemic interval, it is important to bear in mind that microsurgical intervention must be given appropriate priority relative to the patient's other injuries. Very few patients die as a result of upper extremity trauma. However, the economic, psychologic,

Fingertip replantation is now an established technique. Although successful replantation is an ideal method for treatment of fingertip amputation, various other methods still are widely used and may be functionally acceptable. The indications for replantation to treat fingertip amputation is still controversial.

Most of the technical problems of digital replantation have been resolved, but restoration of damaged joints and free gliding of tendons still defy the replantation surgeon. The restoration of function can be enhanced after the reparative process by encouraging motivation in the patient and by a persistent, supervised program of rehabilitation ...

Replanted digital survivals range between 85% to over 90% at established microsurgery centers around the world. The time has come that all surgeons engaged in this activity must utilize the basic principles of reconstructive hand surgery in order to achieve the maximum functional return of the replanted parts.

Over a three-year period 14 consecutive cases of amputated thumbs, 10 complete and 4 incomplete, were replanted/revascularized. Eight thumbs (57%) survived. These cases were compared with a control group, in which replantation had failed or had not been attempted.

A 14-year-old boy presented with oblique amputation of the heel through the calcaneum. The heel fragment was successfully replanted but the postoperative course was complicated by venous insufficiency requiring further venous anastomosis and attributed to tension in the skin closure.

Intentional replantation is an accepted endodontic procedure for treating teeth in cases in which intracanal and/or surgical endodontic treatments are not recommended. Although not a frequently used technique, intentional replantation is a treatment option that dentists should consider. An unusual case is described in which intentional replantation was
