Distribution of neurogranin-like immunoreactivity in the brain and sensory organs of the adult zebrafish. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Comp Neurol, 2022
The expression and distribution of mammalian neurogranin‐like peptides were studied in the brain and sensory organs of adult zebrafish by means of immunocytochemical methods. Results indicate the relation of these neuropeptides with primary and highly integrative centers and suggest a divergent evolution in teleosts.

Cytomegalic parvalbumin neurons in fetal cases of hemimegalencephaly. [PDF]

open access: yesEpilepsia
Abstract Objective Mutations in genes of the mTOR pathway have been identified as a major cause of hemimegalencephaly (HMG), focal cortical dysplasia type II, and tuberous sclerosis, cortical malformations associated with epilepsy. These conditions are characterized at the cellular level by increased size of pyramidal neurons that grow with dysmorphic ...

Multiparameter quantitative analyses of diagnostic cells in brain tissues from tuberous sclerosis complex. [PDF]

open access: yesCytometry B Clin Cytom
Abstract The advent of high‐dimensional imaging offers new opportunities to molecularly characterize diagnostic cells in disorders that have previously relied on histopathological definitions. One example case is found in tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC), a developmental disorder characterized by systemic growth of benign tumors.

Evaluation of the effect of nano-graphene oxide on shear bond strength of conventional and resin-modified glass ionomer cement. [PDF]

open access: yesClin Exp Dent Res, 2023
Abstract Objectives Recently, nano‐graphene oxide (nGO), a material with unique mechanical properties, has been introduced to improve the properties of glass ionomer cement (GIC). The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of adding nGO on the shear bond strength (SBS) of conventional (CGIC) and resin‐modified GIC (RMGIC).

Which people with diabetes are treated with a disposable, half‐unit insulin pen? A real‐world, retrospective, database study in Spain

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 6, Issue 6, November 2023., 2023
Insulin lispro 100 units/mL Jr KwikPen® is the first insulin lispro 100 units/mL prefilled, disposable, half‐unit insulin pen that delivers 0.5–30 units in steps of 0.5 units for the treatment of Type 1 diabetes (T1D) and Type 2 diabetes (T2D). This study used electronic medical records to study the profile of patients with T1D and T2D in Spain who ...

On the taxonomic identity and nomenclature of Cyperus megapotamicus (Cyperaceae)

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, Volume 39, Issue 8, August 2021., 2021
Cyperus megapotamicus (A. Spreng.) Kunth is a nomenclatural synonym of Rhynchospora megapotamica (A. Spreng.) H. Pfeiff. but was originally misapplied to a species of Cyperus. Contrary to the rules, both species names are in current use in different genera.

Molecular forms of neurogranin in cerebrospinal fluid

open access: yesJournal of Neurochemistry, Volume 157, Issue 3, Page 816-833, May 2021., 2021
C‐terminal fragments, along with full‐length forms of neurogranin (Ng) have been previously found at higher concentration in CSF from Alzheimer´s disease patients. Calpain 1 cleaves Ng in its IQ domain upon activation by Ca ions. This IQ domain is essential for modulating calmodulin and CaMKII signaling toward LTP.

Occurrence and toxicity of Microcystis aeruginosa (Cyanobacteria) in the Paraná River, downstream of the Yacyretá dam (Argentina) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Cyanobacteria constitute the main toxin producers in inland water ecosystems and have extensive global distribution. The presence of hepatotoxins in aquatic environments is hazardous to human and animal health; even though the presence and identification
