A Contemporary Account of Sensory Pleasure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
[This is the penultimate version, please send me an email for the final version]. Some sensations are pleasant, some unpleasant, and some are neither. Furthermore, those that are pleasant or unpleasant are so to different degrees.

MTCA‐Net: Multi‐Task Cascade Analysis Network for Real‐Time Sperm Quality Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This article proposes MTCA‐Net, a multi‐task cascaded analysis network for real‐time sperm quality assessment in intracytoplasmic sperm injection. The framework integrates detection, tracking, and segmentation modules to jointly analyze sperm morphology and motility.

Representationalism and Enactivism in Cognitive Translation Studies: A Predictive Processing Perspective

open access: yesInformation
Representational Theories of Mind have long dominated Cognitive Translation Studies, typically assuming that translation involves the manipulation of internal representations (symbols) that stand in for external states of affairs.

Metanormative Theory and the Meaning of Deontic Modals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Philosophical debate about the meaning of normative terms has long been pulled in two directions by the apparently competing ideas: (i) ‘ought’s do not describe what is actually the case but rather prescribe possible action, thought, or feeling, (ii) all

Visual and Visual‐Inertial SLAM Based on Enhanced Deep Learning Features and Motion Smoothness Constraints

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A visual and visual‐inertial simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) algorithm, leveraging enhanced deep learning features and motion smoothness constraints, is proposed in this research work. This method retains the advantages of geometry‐based SLAM methods while effectively utilizing the powerful representational capabilities of data‐driven ...

Non-Representational Mathematical Realism

open access: yesTheoria, 2015
This paper is an attempt to convince anti-realists that their correct intuitions against the metaphysical inflationism derived from some versions of mathematical realism do not force them to embrace non-standard, epistemic approaches to truth and ...

Gate‐Align‐SED: Semi‐Supervised Sound Event Detection via Adaptive Feature Gating and Cross‐Task Alignment in Situation Awareness

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Overview of the proposed Gate‐Align‐SED, including two stages of training: (1) Mean‐Teacher SSL Training; and (2) Enhancer Model Training. In complex real‐world environments such as disaster monitoring, effective sound event detection (SED) is often hindered by the presence of noise and limited labeled data.

Naturalistic Metaphysics at Sea [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper I return to the mid-20th-century debate between Quine and Carnap on the status of metaphysics questions with an eye toward advancing contemporary debates about whether naturalists can coherently undertake substantive metaphysical inquiry ...

Driver Behavior Modeling with Subjective Risk‐Driven Inverse Reinforcement Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A subjective risk‐driven inverse reinforcement learning framework is proposed to model driver decision‐making. It infers drivers' risk perception and risk tolerance from driving data. A learnable risk threshold is used to regulate decisions, enabling interpretable and human‐like driving behavior decisions.
