Assignment of structural domains in proteins using diffusion kernels on graphs

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2022
Though proposing algorithmic approaches for protein domain decomposition has been of high interest, the inherent ambiguity to the problem makes it still an active area of research.

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

Unitary discrete Hilbert transforms

open access: yes, 2010
Weighted discrete Hilbert transforms $(a_n)_n \mapsto \big(\sum_n a_n v_n/(\lambda_j-\gamma_n)\big)_j$ from $\ell^2_v$ to $\ell^2_w$ are considered, where $\Gamma=(\gamma_n)$ and $\Lambda=(\lambda_j)$ are disjoint sequences of points in the complex plane

Influence of Test Temperature and Test Frequency on Fatigue Life of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of test temperature and test frequency on the fatigue life of EN AW‐2618A is investigated. High‐cycle fatigue tests are performed at different test temperatures and frequencies on the 1000 h/230°C overaged state. Both test parameters reduce fatigue life due to time‐dependent damage mechanisms.

Solving Support Vector Machines in Reproducing Kernel Banach Spaces with Positive Definite Functions

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper we solve support vector machines in reproducing kernel Banach spaces with reproducing kernels defined on nonsymmetric domains instead of the traditional methods in reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces.

3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

Sobolev-Type Spaces on the Dual of the Chébli-Trimèche Hypergroup and Applications

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
We define and study Sobolev-type spaces WAs,pℝ+ associated with singular second-order differential operator on 0,∞. Some properties are given; in particular we establish a compactness-type imbedding result which allows a Reillich-type theorem. Next, we

Kernel Matrix-Based Heuristic Multiple Kernel Learning

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
Kernel theory is a demonstrated tool that has made its way into nearly all areas of machine learning. However, a serious limitation of kernel methods is knowing which kernel is needed in practice.

Unleashing the Power of Machine Learning in Nanomedicine Formulation Development

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A random forest machine learning model is able to make predictions on nanoparticle attributes of different nanomedicines (i.e. lipid nanoparticles, liposomes, or PLGA nanoparticles) based on microfluidic formulation parameters. Machine learning models are based on a database of nanoparticle formulations, and models are able to generate unique solutions
