The measurement of the reproduction number
2021The German Robert Koch Institute aims to "protect the population from disease and improve their state of health" (RKI 2017). To this end, it develops concrete, research-based recommendations for policymakers and makes data available to the expert public.

Basic Reproduction Numbers for Reaction-Diffusion Epidemic Models
SIAM Journal on Applied Dynamical Systems, 2012Summary: The theory of the principal eigenvalue is developed for an elliptic eigenvalue problem associated with a linear parabolic cooperative system with some zero diffusion coefficients. Then the basic reproduction number and its computation formulae are established for reaction-diffusion epidemic models with compartmental structure.

Basic Reproduction Number $$R_0$$
2017The basic reproduction number \(R_0\) plays a central role in structured population dynamics. Although some roots of \(R_0\) can be traced back to the nineteenth century, the specific concept was introduced to the demography literature in 1925. It took a further half century for this number to mature as a key concept in mathematical epidemiology, and ...

Chapter 2 The Reproduction Number R0
2019We consider the early stage of the epidemics. Let us consider a single first infective of degree d1 in a population of large size N.

Chromosome numbers and reproduction inRubus subgen.Malachobatus
Plant Systematics and Evolution, 1986A review of current knowledge of chromosome numbers and modes of reproduction in the genusRubus L. is presented. Chromosome numbers from some species of subg.Malachobatus Focke together with results of crossing experiments are reported for the first time.

Epidemic models with uncertainty in the reproduction number
Journal of Mathematical Biology, 2012One of the first quantities to be estimated at the start of an epidemic is the basic reproduction number, R₀. The progress of an epidemic is sensitive to the value of R₀, hence we need methods for exploring the consequences of uncertainty in the estimate.
