Simulation of alternative male reproductive behavior: calling and satellite behavior in field crickets

Ecological Modelling, 1993
Abstract Male field crickets and other acoustically communicating insects call and attract females and silently intercept females attracted by the calling of other males, so-called satellite behavior. A simulation of field cricket, Gryllus integer , mating behavior suggests that population density and sex ratio changes during the breeding season are

Emergence of Autonomous Behaviors of Virtual Characters through Simulated Reproduction

Advances in Artificial Life, ECAL 2013, 2013
This paper addresses the problem of autonomous behaviors of virtual characters. We postulate that a behavior is regarded as autonomous when the actions performed by the agent result from the interaction between its internal dynamics and the environment, rather than being externally controlled.

Simulation of gamete behaviors and the evolution of anisogamy: reproductive strategies of marine green algae

Ecological Research, 2004
In marine green algae, isogamous or slightly anisogamous species are taxonomically widespread. They produce positively phototactic gametes in both sexes. We developed a new numerical simulator of gamete behavior using C++ and pseudo‐parallelization methods to elucidate potential advantages of phototaxis.

Micro- and Macro-Level Validation in Agent-Based Simulation: Reproduction of Human-Like Behaviors and Thinking in a Sequential Bargaining Game [PDF]

open access: possible, 2008
This paper addresses both micro- and macro-level validation in agent-based simulation (ABS) to explore validated agents that can reproduce not only human-like behaviors externally but also human-like thinking internally. For this purpose, we employ the sequential bargaining game, which can investigate a change in humans' behaviors and thinking longer ...

[The expansion of the educational system and the birth decline in the Federal Republic of Germany: a cohort-based simulation on the impact of the changing educational structure on reproductive behavior].

Kolner Zeitschrift fur Soziologie und Sozialpsychologie, 1990
"Demographic studies on cohort fertility have revealed that the birth decline in the [Federal Republic of Germany] was accompanied or even brought about by a considerable postponement in parenthood. By means of event history analysis and micro-simulation this article shows that the postponement of motherhood can be attributed to the expansion of the ...
