Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

High development and fertility: fertility at older reproductive ages and gender equality explain the positive link [PDF]

open access: yes
A fundamental reversal of the traditional fertility-development relationship has occurred in highly developed countries so that further socioeconomic development is no longer associated with decreasing fertility, but with increasing fertility.

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Population structure and reproductive period of two introduced fish species in a Brazilian semiarid region reservoir

open access: yesRevista de Biología Tropical, 2015
The Amazonian fish species Plagioscion squamosissimus(Sciaenidae) and Cichla monoculus(Cichlidae), have been widely introduced into different reservoirs in Brazil, and have caused many negative impacts on local fish fauna.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Testes size, testosterone production and reproductive behaviour in a natural mammalian mating system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
1. Testosterone (T) is a key mediator in the expression of numerous morphological and behavioural traits in mammals, but the factors underlying individual variation in circulating T levels are poorly understood. 2.

Rethinking plastic waste: innovations in enzymatic breakdown of oil‐based polyesters and bioplastics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plastic pollution remains a critical environmental challenge, and current mechanical and chemical recycling methods are insufficient to achieve a fully circular economy. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in the enzymatic depolymerization of both oil‐derived polyesters and bioplastics, including high‐throughput protein engineering, de novo ...
