PACAP in the Reproductive System
2016The production of a mature oocyte that is capable of being fertilized and undergoing embryo development is the major function of the female reproductive system. This process depends on the close association between germ cells and somatic cells, i.e., granulosa and theca cells.

Reproduction and the APUD system
Seminars in Surgical Oncology, 1993AbstractSubstantial evidence for involvement of the APUD system in the normal reproductive tract is limited to the prostate gland and uterine cervix. Cytology of a vaginal swab will contain high numbers of superficial squamous epithelial cells, low to moderate numbers of anucleate ...

Bacteria reproduce quickly and simply by the process of cell division: one bacterium splits to form two bacteria. For humans the process is much more complex. Scientifically and medically the reproductive system is like any other, with its own structure, function and diseases.
