AbstractCroft, Falconer and Guy asked: what is the smallest integer $n$ such that an $n$-reptile in the plane has a hole? Motivated by this question, we describe a geometric method of constructing reptiles in $\mathbb{R}^d$, especially reptiles with holes. In particular, we construct, for each even integer $n\ge4$, an $n$-reptile in $\mathbb{R}^2$ with

Circadian Corticosterone Profile in Laying Hens (Gallus gallus domesticus)
Measurement of blood corticosterone concentrations has been established as an indicator for assessment of acute distress. Therefore, knowledge on physiological fluctuations is required, but previous studies allow little conclusion on daily fluctuations ...

REPTILE: A Proactive Real-Time Deep Reinforcement Learning Self-adaptive Framework [PDF]
In this work a general framework is proposed to support the development of software systems that are able to adapt their behaviour according to the operating environment changes. The proposed approach, named REPTILE, works in a complete proactive manner and relies on Deep Reinforcement Learning-based agents to react to events, referred as novelties ...

Who was the real sabertooth predator: Thylacosmilus or Thylacoleo?
Abstract Sabertoothed mammalian predators, all now extinct, were almost exclusively feloid carnivorans (Eutheria, Placentalia): here a couple of extinct metatherian predators are considered in comparison with the placental sabertooths. Thylacosmilus (the “marsupial sabertooth”) and Thylacoleo (the “marsupial lion”) were both relatively large (puma ...

Graph Neural Network Expressivity and Meta-Learning for Molecular Property Regression [PDF]
We demonstrate the applicability of model-agnostic algorithms for meta-learning, specifically Reptile, to GNN models in molecular regression tasks. Using meta-learning we are able to learn new chemical prediction tasks with only a few model updates, as compared to using randomly initialized GNNs which require learning each regression task from scratch.

Early synapsids neurosensory diversity revealed by CT and synchrotron scanning
Abstract Non‐mammaliaform synapsids (NMS) represent the closest relatives of today's mammals among the early amniotes. Exploring their brain and nervous system is key to understanding how mammals evolved. Here, using CT and Synchrotron scanning, we document for the first time three extreme cases of neurosensory and behavioral adaptations that probe ...
