Our case study considers the rock vole, genus Alticola, which remains one of the insufficiently studied genera of voles owing to its hard‐to‐access habitats and low abundance. Phylogenetic structure of the genus is complicated by few cases of mito‐nuclear discordance.

Spatiotemporal variability in precipitation‐growth association of Betula nana in the Siberian lowland tundra

The association between secondary growth of Betula nana and precipitation in the Siberian lowland tundra is regulated by (i) macro‐ (kilometre‐scale) and micro‐topographical (metre‐scale) gradients, (ii) colimitation between temperature and moisture and (iii) nonlinear responses to precipitation extremes.
