Repulsion between oppositely charged planar macroions. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
The repulsive interaction between oppositely charged macroions is investigated using Grand Canonical Monte Carlo simulations of an unrestricted primitive model, including the effect of inhomogeneous surface charge and its density, the depth of surface ...

Polybromides Attraction-Repulsion Regulation Promotes High-Performance Zinc-Bromine Static Battery. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh)
Br3− attraction‐repulsion regulation enhances the reversibility and reaction kinetics of Zn–Br static batteries. Coin cell shows a high average discharge voltage of 1.73 V and a fast charge/discharge rate up to 32 mA cm−2. Pouch cell with a high areal capacity of 8.3 mAh cm−2 achieves a real capacity of 365 mAh after 100 cycles.

Pattern Repulsion Revisited [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Marques and Almeida [9] recently proposed a nonlinear data seperation technique based on the maximum entropy principle of Bell and Sejnowsky. The idea behind is a pattern repulsion model alluding to repulsion of physical particles in a restricted system which leads to a uniform distribution, hence a maximum entropy, under certain conditions to the ...

Repulsive surfaces [PDF]

open access: yesACM Transactions on Graphics, 2021
Functionals that penalize bending or stretching of a surface play a key role in geometric and scientific computing, but to date have ignored a very basic requirement: in many situations, surfaces must not pass through themselves or each other.

Eliminating Electron Self-Repulsion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Problems of self-interaction arise in both classical and quantum field theories. To understand how such problems are to be addressed in a quantum theory of the Dirac and electromagnetic fields (quantum electrodynamics), we can start by analyzing a ...

Rationalizing aggregate structures with orbital contributions to the exchange-repulsion energy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
It is shown that repulsive interactions have a crucial influence on the structure of prototypical non-covalently bonded systems. To explain this, we propose a molecular orbital based model for the exchange-repulsion contribution to the total interaction ...

On a repulsion-diffusion equation with immigration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
We study a repulsion-diffusion equation with immigration, whose asymptotic behaviour is related to stability of long-term dynamics in spatial population models and other branching particle systems. We prove well-posedness and find sharp conditions on the

Gathering by repulsion

open access: yesComputational Geometry, 2020
We consider a repulsion actuator located in an $n$-sided convex environment full of point particles. When the actuator is activated, all the particles move away from the actuator. We study the problem of gathering all the particles to a point. We give an $O(n^2)$ time algorithm to compute all the actuator locations that gather the particles to one ...

Repulsive Casimir Forces [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2002
We discuss repulsive Casimir forces between dielectric materials with non trivial magnetic susceptibility. It is shown that considerations based on naive pair-wise summation of Van der Waals and Casimir Polder forces may not only give an incorrect estimate of the magnitude of the total Casimir force, but even the wrong sign of the force when materials ...

Repulsive Curves

open access: yesCoRR, 2020
Curves play a fundamental role across computer graphics, physical simulation, and mathematical visualization, yet most tools for curve design do nothing to prevent crossings or self-intersections. This paper develops efficient algorithms for (self-)repulsion of plane and space curves that are well-suited to problems in computational design.
