Motion Repulsion Is Monocular

open access: yesVision Research, 2004
Motion repulsion is the illusory enlargement of the angle between objects moving in two different directions of motion. Previous work suggests that motion repulsion occurs under dichoptic conditions, and therefore is binocular. In reference repulsion the direction of motion is misperceived even if only a single direction of motion is presented.

Repulsive and inhibitory signals

Current Opinion in Neurobiology, 1995
Repulsive or inhibitory interactions between growth cones and their environment are now widely implicated in neural development and regeneration. Over the past year, descriptive studies of the various neuronal systems in which repulsion may participate have clarified its biology.

Repulsive-SVDD Classification

2015
Support vector data description (SVDD) is a well-known kernel method that constructs a minimal hypersphere regarded as a data description for a given data set. However SVDD does not take into account any statistical distribution of the data set in constructing that optimal hypersphere, and SVDD is applied to solving one-class classification problems ...

Repulsive Energies and their Applications

2022
Functionals that penalize bending or stretching of a surface play a key role in geometric and scientific computing, but to date have ignored a very basic requirement: in many situations, shapes must not pass through themselves or each other. This condition is critical, for instance, when shapes represent physical membranes (e.g.

The onset repulsion effect

Spatial Vision, 2002
There have been many previous reports of mislocalization associated with moving objects (e.g. flash-lag effect, Frohlich effect, representational momentum). Across four experiments, a new form of mislocalization--the onset repulsion effect (ORE)--is explored in which the error is always back along the observed path of motion.
