Performance Philosophy: audience participation and responsibility

open access: yes, 2017
This article critically assesses the position of the spectator in philosophy and (participatory) performances. By means of an in-depth reading of Rancière’s notion of the emancipated spectator, Kester’s theory of dialogical aesthetics and a case study of

Integrated Single‐Cell and Spatial Analysis Reveals a Metabolic‐Immune Axis Driving Aortic Dissection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐cell and spatial profiling of 110 human thoracic aortic samples reveals a stromal–immune circuit driving aortic dissection. An elastin‐rich fibroblast subset is depleted with age and markedly reduced in disease, weakening aortic wall integrity.

Mechanically Adaptive Polyimide Interfaces for Stable High‐Voltage NCM–Sulfide All‐Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A mechanically adaptive polyimide interface dynamically stabilizes single‐crystal cathodes in sulfide all‐solid‐state batteries. By integrating robust chemical coordination with viscoelastic compliance, this smart coating suppresses parasitic reactions and accommodates cyclic volume expansion.

De-Marginalizing the Philosophy of Technology

open access: yes, 2012
Five examples are given of major philosophical discussions in which technology needs to be taken into account. In the philosophy of science, the notion of mechanism has a central role.

Hadamard Matrix Slicing Single‐Pixel Imaging: Establishing a Linear‐Array‐Inspired Paradigm for N‐fold Acceleration Single‐Pixel Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
To overcome two‐dimensional modulation bottlenecks, Hadamard Matrix Slicing Single‐Pixel Imaging (HMS‐SPI) establishes an efficient one‐dimensional imaging paradigm. By slicing the traditional Hadamard matrix into one‐dimensional encoding vectors and spatially expanding them, the required measurement patterns decrease by a factor of N.

Local Polarization Unit Engineering Enables Ultrahigh Energy Density in NBT‐Based High‐Entropy Ceramic Capacitors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Herein, we demonstrate a breakthrough in dielectric energy storage by engineering local polarization units in high‐entropy multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs). The optimized MLCCs achieve an ultrahigh recoverable energy density of 18.2 J cm−3 with 91% efficiency, coupled with exceptional thermal stability and fatigue resistance.

An Embodied Paper‐Based Microfluidic Al‐Air Battery for Enduring Untethered Insect‐Scale Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a centimeter‐scale microfluidic aluminum–air battery (MFAAB) with dual‐surface anode and F−‐mediated byproduct decomposition. The design enables a high capacity of 2697.05 mAh/g Al and delivers tens of milliwatts to power LEDs, motors, and a toy car.
