Beyond Presumptions: Toward Mechanistic Clarity in Metal‐Free Carbon Catalysts for Electrochemical H2O2 Production via Data Science

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐free carbon catalysts enable the sustainable synthesis of hydrogen peroxide via two‐electron oxygen reduction; however, active site complexity continues to hinder reliable interpretation. This review critiques correlation‐based approaches and highlights the importance of orthogonal experimental designs, standardized catalyst passports ...

Design of a Low Enrichment, Enhanced Fast Flux Core for the MIT Research Reactor

open access: yes, 2009
Worldwide, there is limited test reactor capacity to perform the required irradiation experiments on advanced fast reactor materials and fuel designs. This is particularly true in the U.S., which no longer has an operating fast reactor but depends upon

Anaerobic Treatment of Concentrated Black Water in UASB Reactor at a Short HRT

open access: yes, 2010
This research describes the feasibility of applying a UASB reactor for the treatment of concentrated black (toilet) water at 25 °C. On average 78% of the influent load of COD at an HRT of 8.7 days was removed. Produced methane can be converted to 56 MJ/p/

Radiogenic Lead with Dominant Content of 208Pb: New Coolant and Neutron Moderator for Innovative Nuclear Facilities

open access: yesScience and Technology of Nuclear Installations, 2011
As a rule materials of small atomic weight (light and heavy water, graphite, and so on) are used as neutron moderators and reflectors. A new very heavy atomic weight moderator is proposed—radiogenic lead consisting mainly of isotope 208Pb.

Tuning Amorphous‐Crystalline Catalytic Interfaces by Mechanochemistry: Cu‐Based Metallic Glasses Coupled with Ceria for CO Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ball‐milling Cu‐based metallic glasses with ceria creates a unique nanostructure where metallic glass particles are wrapped by CeO2 nanoparticles. The intimate integration triggers copper state reorganization during reaction and aging, boosting CO oxidation and COPrOx activity.

Pyrolytic graphite as a selective neutron filter [PDF]

open access: yesЯдерна фізика та енергетика, 2006
The transmission of neutrons through pyrolytic graphite (PG) crystals, set at different angles with respect to incident beam, were calculated using an additive formula. A computer program HOPG was developed to provide the required calculation.

Computational investigation of 99Mo, 89Sr, and 131I production rates in a subcritical UO2(NO3)2 aqueous solution reactor driven by a 30-MeV proton accelerator

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2015
The use of subcritical aqueous homogenous reactors driven by accelerators presents an attractive alternative for producing 99Mo. In this method, the medical isotope production system itself is used to extract 99Mo or other radioisotopes so that there is ...
