Direct Extracellular Matrix Modulation Attenuates Intestinal Fibrosis via a Fibronectin‐Targeted Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Fibronectin regulates the extracellular matrix (ECM)–myofibroblast cycle through three key steps: (1) its secretion and assembly by myofibroblasts (inhibited by pUR4); (2) collagen deposition along its scaffold (inhibited by R1R2); and (3) integrin α5β1‐mediated mechanotransduction (inhibited by ATN161).

Mechanical Strain‐Programmed SDC1+ Sheath Fibroblasts Trigger CXCR4hi Neutrophil‐Mediated Enthesitis in Ankylosing Spondylitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In ankylosing spondylitis (AS), mechanical strain‐programmed SDC1+ sheath fibroblasts secrete CXCL5 to recruit neutrophils and promote the activation of CXCR4hi neutrophils, thereby exacerbating enthesitis by promoting neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) formation. SOX5 controls the generation of SDC1+ sheath fibroblasts via super‐enhancers.

Simulation and Optimization of a Pendulum-Lever-Type Hole-Seeding Device

open access: yesAgriculture
The process of hole seeding on the mulch during full-film double-row furrow corn planting faces issues such as poor seed discharge and seed blockage. To address these challenges, a pendulum-lever-type hole-forming mechanism is designed, along with an ...

Climate Change Mitigation in the Dairy Sector: Uncovering Heterogeneity Through Eco‐Efficiency Clubs

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Combining climate change goals with economic targets is crucial for the dairy sector, which is a significant contributor to agricultural greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions worldwide. In this paper, we assess economic and climate change implications of dairy production with panel data of Irish dairy farms from 2013 to 2021.

Enhancing temperate grassland diversity and functionality: Crafting seed mixtures to align stakeholder interests and to increase establishment success

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Conservation
Grassland biodiversity is positively correlated to ecosystem productivity and resilience that secure net gains and functionality of such systems. Land-use change of grasslands is associated with local extinction of species and declining ecosystem ...

Indonesian inquiry: A narrative of biocultural teaching on Sulawesi Utara

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Using phenomenology, narrative inquiry and autoethnographic approaches, this study analyses a program of faculty development conducted alongside the delivery of an international field school. Through this study, we explore the value and benefits of inter‐cultural field programming and how these might serve to complement or to redress ...

Pastoralists’ perceptions of forage value and productivity of pasture grasses under different reseeding technologies in Upper Ewaso Nyiro Basin rangelands, Kenya

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science
Over 80% of Kenya’s landmass falls under arid and semi-arid lands, where harsh environmental conditions hinder efforts to restore degraded rangelands.

Highly divergent patterns of genetic diversity and evolution in proviral quasispecies from HIV controllers

open access: yesRetrovirology, 2017
Background Ongoing intra-host HIV-1 evolution has been shown in individuals that naturally suppress the viremia to low levels (HIV controllers) by the analysis of the RNA in plasma compartment.

Depth‐structured sponge assemblages offer limited evidence for mesophotic refuge potential under the deep reef refuge hypothesis

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Temperate mesophotic ecosystems (TMEs) have the potential to act as climate refugia for shallower benthic species impacted by environmental change. However, the extent to which mesophotic ecosystems might provide an ecological refuge, particularly for key functional groups like sponges, remains poorly known in temperate systems.
