Integrating a phylogenetic framework for mapping biodiversity patterns to set conservation priorities for an oceanic island flora

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2025.
We use the sequences of two plastid markers (matK and rbcL) and the updated distributional information of the endemic angiosperm land flora (202 taxa) within the Gran Canaria Biosphere Reserve to provide quantitative indicators that help improve biodiversity conservation in this territory.

Necrophagy in Aspidoscelis lineattissimus (Cope, 1878) and Incilius marmoreus (Wiegmann, 1833) by the Dung Beetle Canthon cyanellus (LeConte, 1859) in a Dry Tropical Forest of Mexico

HotSHOT Extraction Is a Fast, Economical, and Efficient Method for Obtaining Tardigrade gDNA

open access: yesPsyche: A Journal of Entomology, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Among the main problems in obtaining genomic DNA (gDNA) from small invertebrates such as tardigrades are the low amount of gDNA obtained per specimen, as well as the complexity of steps and number of reagents used for gDNA extraction. For example, the extraction method with chelating resin is the most used as an alternative to commercial kits for ...
