Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Characterization of braided river reservoir architecture based on seismic attribute stacking ensemble learning: A case study of the C-2 oilfield in the Bohai Bay Basin [PDF]
The C-2 oilfield, located in the Bohai Bay Basin, is a fluvial-facies offshore oilfield primarily developed with horizontal wells. It is characterized by thin reservoir layers, vertically stacked multi-phase sandbodies, and rapid lateral facies ...

A quantum-dot heat engine operating close to the thermodynamic efficiency limits
Cyclical heat engines are a paradigm of classical thermodynamics, but are impractical for miniaturization because they rely on moving parts. A more recent concept is particle-exchange (PE) heat engines, which uses energy filtering to control a thermally ...

Reservoir characterization of Pennsylvanian sandstone reservoirs [PDF]
The overall objectives of this work are: (i) to investigate the importance of various qualities and quantities of data on the optimization of water flooding performance; and (ii) to study the application of newly developed, geostatistical techniques to analyze available production data to predict future prospects of infill drilling.

Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Key technologies for the fluvial reservoir characterization of marginal oil fields
Fluvial reservoirs of the lower member of the Neogene Minghuazhen Formation in Q33-1 Oilfield, Bohai Bay Basin, are studied as examples to determine the distribution and characteristics of marginal reservoirs and develop offshore marginal oilfields ...

Filtering Strategies for Deformation-Rate Distributed Acoustic Sensing
Deformation-rate distributed acoustic sensing (DAS), made available by the unique designs of certain interrogator units, acquires seismic data that are theoretically equivalent to the along-fiber particle velocity motion recorded by geophones for ...

Lyapunov instability for a periodic Lorentz gas thermostated by deterministic scattering
In recent work a deterministic and time-reversible boundary thermostat called thermostating by deterministic scattering has been introduced for the periodic Lorentz gas [Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 84}, 4268 (2000)].

Day/night variations of myeloid and lymphoid cell subsets in the murine inguinal lymph node
The circadian system is involved in the temporal regulation of the immune system. Our study reveals that two innate immune populations, NKT cells and neutrophils, predominate at the beginning of the day in healthy mice, highlighting how the time of day influences immune responses.
