Impact of magmatic intrusion on diagenesis of shallow marine sandstones: An example from Qasim Formation, Northwest Saudi Arabia

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
Igneous intrusions are common in sedimentary basins, and their occurrence can significantly affect the diagenesis and reservoir quality evolution of sandstones, thereby strongly impacting their hydrocarbons-, geothermal-, and CO2-storage potentials.

Formation Mechanism and Petroleum Geological Significance of (Ferro) Dolomite Veins from Fractured Reservoirs in Granite Buried Hills: Insights from Qiongdongnan Basin, South China Sea

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
This study employs logging, petrology, and geochemistry to investigate the characteristics, origin, and hydrocarbon significance of fractures and (ferro) dolomite veins in a buried hill in the Qiongdongnan (QDN) Basin, South China Sea.

Diagenetic controls on reservoir quality of tight sandstone: A case study of the Upper Triassic Yanchang formation Chang 7 sandstones, Ordos Basin, China

open access: yesEarth Sciences Research Journal, 2018
Through a range of petrological techniques, the petrology, diagenesis, pore characteristics, and controlling factors on the regional variations of reservoir quality of the Chang 7 sandstones were studied. These sandstones, mainly arkoses, lithic arkoses,

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Planar Solid‐State Nanopores Toward Scalable Nanofluidic Integration Based on CMOS Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable silicon‐based fabrication strategy for planar solid‐state nanopores to enable their integration with complex nanofluidic systems. Prototype devices demonstrate normal voltage‐current characteristics, good noise performance, and appreciable streaming currents. Our CMOS‐compatible fabrication process offers precise geometric control

Geochemical Machine Learning in Sandstones: Predicting Porosity, Permeability and Facies from Handheld XRF Compositions

open access: yesGeosciences
Handheld X-ray fluorescence (HHXRF) scanners generate rapid, low-cost geochemical datasets from core and cuttings, yet their potential for quantitative reservoir characterisation remains largely unrealised, partly because standard multivariate methods ...

Active Corrosion Protection of Sintered AA7075 Aluminum Alloy via Mn Powder Addition

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
AA7075 containing Mn‐rich particles is fabricated via spark plasma sintering using AA7075 and Mn powders. Corrosion resistance is evaluated through dip‐and‐dry tests using 0.1 M NaCl (pH 6.0), and mass loss decreases with increasing Mn addition. Mn‐rich particles function as a source of Mn ions, and formation of Mn‐accumulation films on Cu‐containing ...
