Surface Emissions Modulate Indoor SVOC Concentrations through Volatility-Dependent Partitioning. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Measurements by semivolatile thermal desorption aerosol gas chromatography (SV-TAG) were used to investigate how semivolatile organic compounds (SVOCs) partition among indoor reservoirs in (1) a manufactured test house under controlled conditions ...

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Planar Solid‐State Nanopores Toward Scalable Nanofluidic Integration Based on CMOS Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable silicon‐based fabrication strategy for planar solid‐state nanopores to enable their integration with complex nanofluidic systems. Prototype devices demonstrate normal voltage‐current characteristics, good noise performance, and appreciable streaming currents. Our CMOS‐compatible fabrication process offers precise geometric control

Correlations between charge and heat currents in an interacting quantum dot

open access: yes, 2015
We consider an interacting quantum dot connected to two reservoirs driven at distinct voltage/temperature and we study the correlations between charge and heat currents first as a function of the applied voltage bias, and second as a function of the ...

Oxide‐Free Titanium Coatings by Wire Arc Spraying in a Silane‐Doped Inert Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A silane‐doped argon atmosphere enables the production of oxide‐free titanium coatings via twin‐wire arc spraying at ambient pressure. This innovative approach eliminates residual oxygen, creating process conditions that prevent oxidation and nitride formation.

Numerical study of influence of hydraulic fracturing on fluid flow in natural fractures

open access: yesPetroleum, 2019
The hydraulic fracturing operation is highly complex in fractured reservoirs. The fundamental key to a successful operation is processing and analysis of the propagation of hydraulic fracturing in a natural fracture network.

Influence of CO2 injection on the pore size distribution and petrophysical properties of tight sandstone cores using nuclear magnetic resonance

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering, 2020
CO2 injection has been proposed as an efficient method for enhanced oil recovery in low‐permeability sandstone reservoirs. When CO2 is injected into such reservoirs, the petrophysical properties as well as the pore size distribution of tight formation ...

Heat transport in oscillator chains with long-range interactions coupled to thermal reservoirs

open access: yes, 2017
We investigate thermal conduction in arrays of long-range interacting rotors and Fermi-Pasta-Ulam (FPU) oscillators coupled to two reservoirs at different temperatures.

Air‐Pressure–Actuated Vibroacoustic Metamaterial With Tunable Bandgap: Design, Modeling, and Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the design, modeling, and characterization of air‐pressure–actuated programmable vibroacoustic metamaterials (PVAMM). The study focuses on leveraging air pressure to dynamically tune resonance frequencies for effective noise attenuation.
