Residence time in micro-tidal basins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
To evaluate water quality, it is possible to use hydrodynamic indicators, instead of ecological models; the most widely used are some characteristic times-scale. Among them, in this work, residence time is considered.

Dataset for the simulated biomass pyrolysis in rotary kilns with varying particle residence time distributions

open access: yesData in Brief, 2021
Slow pyrolysis of biomass is commonly performed in rotary kilns. The effect of the particle residence time distribution on biomass conversion is often neglected when numerically modeling such systems.

The distribution of range sizes of native and alien plants in four European countries and the effects of residence time [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Aim Do the statistical distributions of range sizes of native and alien species differ? If so, is this because of residence time effects? And can such effects indicate an average time to a maximum?

Does residence time affect responses of alien species richness to environmental and spatial processes? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
One of the most robust emerging generalisations in invasion biology is that the probability of invasion increases with the time since introduction (residence time). We analysed the spatial distribution of alien vascular plant species in a region of north-

Material Transport Characteristics in Planetary Roller Melt Granulation

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2023
Melt granulation for improving material handling by modifying particle size distribution offers significant advantages compared to the standard methods of dry and wet granulation in dust reduction, obviating a subsequent drying step. Furthermore, current

Residence time distribution for a class of Gaussian Markov processes [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 1999
We study the distribution of residence time or equivalently that of ``mean magnetization" for a family of Gaussian Markov processes indexed by a positive parameter $α$. The persistence exponent for these processes is simply given by $θ=α$ but the residence time distribution is nontrivial. The shape of this distribution undergoes a qualitative change as

Residence time distribution measurements in an external-loop airlift reactor: Study of the hydrodynamics of the liquid circulation induced by the hydrogen bubbles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A detailed study of the residence time distribution (RTD) analysis of liquid phase has been performed in an external-loop airlift reactor of 20 L nominal volume, regarded as a global unit and discriminating its different sections (riser, gas–liquid ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Residence time distribution and flow pattern modeling of oilseeds in a pilot screw press☆

open access: yesOilseeds and fats, crops and lipids, 2020
Mechanical expression is widely applied for oil recovery from oilseeds using continuous screw presses. Despite significant recent advances in the field of press design and automation, it remains difficult to predict the press performances based on the ...
