Understanding Lake Residence Time Across Spatial and Temporal Scales: A Modeling Analysis of Lake George, New York USA

open access: yesWater Resources Research
Whole lake residence time has been associated with various water quality parameters, including harmful algal blooms. Despite observations of spatial variability in commonly measured lake water quality parameters, little attention is given to the spatial ...

Residence time distribution in twin-screw extruders [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
For the twin-screw extruders used in the food industry at short time high temperature processes the knowledge of their reactor properties is incomplete for mass- and heat flow.

SIMULATION OF RESIDENCE TIME DISTRIBUTION AND MIXING IN REACTORS WITH RECIRCULATION USING 2D APPROACH

open access: yesTASK Quarterly, 2011
In this paper, we propose a 2D approach in order to create a mathematical model for the determination of the residence time distribution for a flow reactor with recirculation.

Residence time distribution in model tubes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016

Controlling Grain Growth in Powder Bed Fusion of Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia Using Femtosecond Lasers: Challenges and Methodological Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Binder‐free laser powder bed fusion of 8YSZ with a femtosecond laser is used to map process windows linking scan strategy, heat accumulation, and grain growth. Time‐resolved thermography and simulations reveal thermal regimes that enable continuous, vitrified, and fine‐grained 8YSZ surface layers without absorptive additives and demonstrate ...

Morphology, Transport, and Dynamics of Protein Adsorption in Open‐Cell Metal Foam

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stainless steel (SS) open‐cell foams are shown to adsorb more protein per unit area than previously reported 316L SS and chromium oxide surfaces under static and flow conditions. An integrated approach combining 3D pore imaging, flow simulation, and protein adsorption experiments characterizes the foam’s performance.

Investigating the Low‐Temperature Phase Stability of the Binary Ta–W System

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Atomistic simulations show that the binary Ta–W system forms ordered intermetallic phases, B2‐TaW and D03‐TaW3, as 0 K ground states. Configurational entropy, however, lowers the free energy of the disordered bcc solid solution, which becomes the stable phase above about 400 K.
