Catchment travel time distributions and water flow in soils [PDF]
Many details about the flow of water in soils in a hillslope are unknowable given current technologies. One way of learning about the bulk effects of water velocity distributions on hillslopes is through the use of tracers.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Design and simulation of gas burner ejectors
Ignition within gas burner ejectors can lead to off design conditions and has significant influence on the burner behavior. Thus ignition in the ejector should be prevented. In the present study the influence of combustion reactions on the performance of

Inlet protein aggregation: a new mechanism for lubricating film formation with model synovial fluids. [PDF]
This paper reports a fundamental study of lubricant film formation with model synovial fluid components (proteins) and bovine serum (BS). The objective was to investigate the role of proteins in the lubrication process.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Residence Time Section Evaluation and Feasibility Studies for One-Column Simulated Moving Bed Processes (1-SMB) [PDF]
The simulated moving bed (SMB) is a well-established, fully continuous process for chromatographic separation of difficult tasks with overlapping peaks, but it is relatively complex. The 1-SMB, which uses only one column but includes residence time zones

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Demonstration of Patient-Specific Simulations to Assess Left Atrial Appendage Thrombogenesis Risk
Atrial fibrillation (AF) alters left atrial (LA) hemodynamics, which can lead to thrombosis in the left atrial appendage (LAA), systemic embolism and stroke.
