Impact of Pre‐Oxidation Treatments on a Recycled MgO/Steel‐Composite as Carbon Free Anode in Aluminum‐Electrolysis Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Cermets (60 vol.% AISI 316L stainless steel, 40 vol.% recycled MgO), intended for use in aluminum electrolysis, were pre‐oxidized in three furnaces with different heating technologies and subjected to a cryolite corrosion test. The different atmospheres influenced the formation of oxide layers, which in turn affected corrosion resistance and ...

Tuning the Selectivity of the CO2 Reduction Reaction by Means of Synergistic Interactions in the Cu, Ag, Ce System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multi‐metal Cu─Ce─Ag nanoparticles harness synergistic interactions to drive efficient electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction toward C2+ products at high current densities. Ag enhances CO production, Ce modulates Cu oxidation states, and together they boost *CO coverage and local pH to enhance C─C coupling, enabling record C2+ yields with suppressed ...

Care Ethics in Residential Child Care: A Different Voice

open access: yesEthics and Social Welfare, 2011
Despite the centrality of the term within the title, the meaning of ‘care’ in residential child care remains largely unexplored. Shifting discourses of residential child care have taken it from the private into the public domain. Using a care ethics perspective, we argue that public care needs to move beyond its current instrumental focus to articulate

Understanding the Role of Superhydrophobicity and Superhydrophilicity in Salt‐Spray Corrosion of Nanosecond Pulsed Laser‐Textured AA2024 Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nanosecond pulse laser texturing yields superhydrophobic and superhydrophilic AA2024 surfaces. Salt‐spray tests show that periodic superhydrophobic patterns suppress pitting, whereas superhydrophilic textures enhance it, linking laser‐induced morphology, wettability, and oxide chemistry to corrosion resistance.
