Evaluating stress intensity factors due to weld residual stresses by the weight function and finite element methods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper presents a study on the application of the weight function and finite element methods to evaluate residual stress intensity factors in welded test samples.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Residual stresses in bulk ceramics

open access: yes, 2022
S.274-285Residual stresses in ceramics are of interest for two reasons. First, residual stresses are superimposed on external stresses and thus influence the service behavior of the machined parts.

Soil Inversion with Subsoiling Increases Cotton Yield Through Improving Soil Properties and Root Growth

open access: yesAgronomy
Long-termrotary tillage has led to a deterioration in cotton production. It remains unclear whether soil inversion with subsoiling could halt the deterioration.

Fertilizer nitrogen recovery efficiencies in crop production systems of China with and without consideration of the residual effect of nitrogen

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2014
China is the world’s largest consumer of synthetic nitrogen (N), where very low rates of fertilizer N recovery in crops have been reported, raising discussion around whether fertilizer N use can be significantly reduced without yield penalties.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

RESIDUAL EFFECT OF ETOFENPROX (TREBON 20% WP) AS A NEW INSECTICIDE ON DIFFERENT SURFACES IN SOUTH OF IRAN [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Public Health, 1995
The residual activity and air-borne efficacy of Etofenprox (trebon 20% WP) were studied on different surfaces in hut scale trial, in Kazeroun south of Iran, in 1992.
