Estimating network resilience, a performability metric
Instead of considering multi-component systems in a binary world, where systems and components are either up (operational, working) or down (nonoperational, failed), we move to a multi-variate one, where the system’s state space is partitioned into several performance levels, while components are as usual binary ones, subject to failures and possibly ...

An organic neuromorphic architecture for the classification of human motor behavior is presented and validated. It performs somatic integration by linearly combining the activity from three muscles. An investigation of synaptic weights is presented and discussed in relationship with the classification performance.

A post‐growth method is demonstrated to realize energy‐tunable quantum emitters in GaAs/GaAsN/GaAs core–multishell nanowires on a Si substrate. By combining the N‐induced bandgap reduction with H‐ion irradiation, the GaAsN potential landscape is engineered, enabling isolated, narrow emission lines that function as single‐photon sources with g(2)(0) ∼ 0.

Betweenness Centrality is not a Network Resilience Metric
Betweenness centrality measures the importance of a link or node in a network based on how often it falls on the shortest path between other nodes. It was originally introduced in social network analysis, where it is interpreted as the ability an actor has to moderate communication between others in the network. In transportation, it is often used as a

An Empirical investigation into metrics for object-oriented software [PDF]
Object-Oriented methods have increased in popularity over the last decade, and are now the norm for software development in many application areas. Many claims were made for the superiority of object-oriented methods over more traditional methods, and ...
