Cumulative heatwave stress disrupts thermal homeostasis and plumage structure in a Mediterranean passerine

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Heatwaves are becoming increasingly frequent across the Mediterranean and pose critical challenges for small passerines, yet the physiological and morphological limits to their resilience remain poorly understood.

Maturation trade-offs in octopus females and their progeny: energy, digestion and defence indicators [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2019
Sexual maturation and reproduction influence the status of a number of physiological processes and consequently the ecology and behaviour of cephalopods.

Demographic buffering in natural populations: A multi‐level perspective

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
We introduce a multi‐level framework that unites stochastic elasticities with nonlinear selection to test demographic buffering. Applying it across mammals reveals a key insight: ecological robustness to variability often decouples from evolutionary constraint, reshaping how we understand resilience under environmental stochasticity.

From steps to home ranges: How habitat disturbance influences the movement drivers of an arboreal primate

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
Challenging the narrative about howler monkeys' high resilience to anthropogenic changes, our multiscale analysis reveals the costs of habitat disturbance to their movement ecology. We identify thermal limitations, reduced travel efficiency, and significant spatial saturation.

Twelve principles for successful governance of community‐based coastal marine restoration

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Global agreements, such as the Global Biodiversity Framework, call for urgent, large‐scale action to halt biodiversity loss through a whole‐of‐society approach. Community‐based restoration can play a crucial role in achieving this goal, yet there remains limited understanding of what makes these projects effective and sustainable.

Descrição atualizada da paralisia cerebral

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, EarlyView.

Imaging Point Source Groundwater Discharges in a Confined Coastal Aquifer Using Electrical Resistivity

open access: yesGroundwater, EarlyView.
Marine electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) is applied to characterize point‐source submarine groundwater discharge (PSGD) along NW Yucatán. ERT observations and forward modeling constrain conduit detectability under varying hydrogeological conditions.

Democratic Values in Citizen Participation: What Citizens Prioritize in Participation

open access: yesPolicy Studies Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Citizen participation is often initiated to strengthen democracy. While participatory innovations are typically assessed through normative frameworks emphasizing democratic values, little is known about which of these values are prioritized by citizens.
