Interfacial Strength of Resilon and Gutta-Percha to Intraradicular Dentin

Journal of Endodontics, 2005
Strengthening of Resilon-filled roots via an adhesive interface should be reflected by improvement in the interfacial strength and dislocation resistance between the root fillings and intraradicular dentin. This study compared the interfacial strengths of Resilon/Epiphany and gutta-percha/AH Plus using a thin-slice push-out test design.

Effect of disinfectant solutions on gutta‐percha and resilon cones

Microscopy Research and Technique, 2012
AbstractThe aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of the 5.25% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), 2% chlorhexidine (CHX), and MTAD solutions on the surface of gutta‐percha and Resilon cones by using atomic force microscopy (AFM). Accessory cones were washed and dried.

Bondability of Resilon to a Methacrylate-Based Root Canal Sealer

Journal of Endodontics, 2006
Resilon broadens the dimensions of endodontic adhesion by introducing the possibility of creating monoblocs between root canal filling materials and intraradicular dentin by using methacrylate-based sealers. The adhesive strength of Resilon to RealSeal, a methacrylate-based root canal sealer, was evaluated using a modified microshear bond testing ...

Spreader Penetration During Lateral Compaction of Resilon and Gutta-Percha

Journal of Endodontics, 2006
Resilon, a thermoplastic, polyester polymer-based filling material, is a new material used for sealing root canals after chemomechanical preparation. The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare nickel-titanium (NiTi) spreader penetration in root canals having a .04 taper preparation using .02 and .04 tapered master gutta-percha cones and .02 and .

Resilon en guttapercha met elkaar vergeleken

TandartsPraktijk, 2008

Fracture resistance of Resilon/Epiphany and Gutta percha/AH plus

Indian Journal of Dentistry, 2014
Abstract Introduction The aim of the present study was to investigate and compare the fracture resistance of root canals filled with Resilon/Epiphany and those that were obturated with Gutta percha/AH plus endodontic sealers. Materials and methods A total of 60 extracted human single rooted teeth were selected; 25 teeth for each test group and 5

Evaluation of the thermoplasticity of different gutta‐percha cones and Resilon®

Australian Endodontic Journal, 2007
AbstractThe goal of this study was to evaluate the thermoplasticity of conventional and thermoplastic gutta‐percha and Resilon®, a polyester polymer‐based material. Specimens with standardised dimensions were made from the following materials: conventional and thermoplastic gutta‐percha (Dentsply), conventional and thermoplastic gutta‐percha ...

Soft Chelating Irrigation Protocol Optimizes Bonding Quality of Resilon/Epiphany Root Fillings

Journal of Endodontics, 2008
This study was designed to test the impact of either a strong (MTAD) or a soft (1-hydroxyethylidene-1, 1-bisphosphonate [HEPB]) chelating solution on the bond strength of Resilon/Epiphany root fillings. Both 17% EDTA and the omission of a chelator in the irrigation protocol were used as reference treatments. Forty extracted human upper lateral incisors

ASSESSMENT AND RE-TREATMENT OF RESILON OBTURATION SYSTEM; PART 1: RESILON: ASSESSMENT OF DEGRADED FILLING MATERIAL IN NON-HEALED CASES; PART 2: RESILON: A CASE SERIES OF RETREATMENTS OF NON- HEALED CASES

2018
Resilon obturation system was discontinued following its introduction as an alternative to traditional gutta percha and sealer. In-vitro models support anecdotal reports of degraded Resilon filling material. This may represent a significant health concern for the patient.
