This review examines passive, active, and hybrid liquid manipulation strategies, highlighting hybrid approaches as an emerging route to reconcile energy efficiency with adaptive control. By actively reconstructing passive surfaces to store programmable interfacial energy, hybrid systems enable flexible yet low‐power liquid transport, with perspectives ...

Epoxy Resin Embedding in Gelatin Capsules: Improved Orientation of Thin Specimens
The hemispherical bottom of ordinary gelatin capsules can be softened by partial soaking in cold water. Pressing the moistened part with a smooth, flatsurfaced object will modify the original shape of the capsule to a flat-bottomed one. Plastic Petri dishes can be used for this work with excellent results. This new shape becomes stable after drying and

Programmable Functional Silicification of DNA Origami Nanostructures
This work introduces additional functionality into silica‐coated DNA origami nanostructures using non‐standard silica precursors. A fluorescent precursor enables enhanced intracellular tracking, while a disulfide‐containing reagent yields redox‐responsive, degradable silica coatings.

Ceramic‐based V2O5/Fe3O4 hybrid films are shaped into butterfly‐proboscis‐inspired microscroll actuators. Magnetic triggering initiates unrolling, while geometry‐programmed elastic strain energy drives rapid recoil, enabling fast, reversible, durable, and load‐bearing actuation under near‐field magnetic stimulation.
