The variation in lateral and longitudinal stress gauge response within an RTM 6 epoxy resin under one-dimensional shock loading [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The dynamic response of a commercially important epoxy resin (RTM 6) has been studied using plate impact experiments in the impact velocity regime of 80–960 m/s.

Fluorescent UV-curable Polyurethane Acrylate Nanocomposite Coatings Strengthened with Carbon Quantum Dots: Preparation and Investigation of UV-blocking and Anti-Corrosive Properties [PDF]

open access: yesشیمی کاربردی روز
Most polymers exposed to UV radiating from the sun deteriorate and lose their mechanical features. Polymer coatings are generally used for protection of metal surfaces against corrosive factors.

Resin composite repair: Quantitative microleakage evaluation of resin-resin and resin-tooth interfaces with different surface treatments

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Dentistry, 2015
ABSTRACT Objective: The aim was to evaluate the effect of different adhesive systems and surface treatments on the integrity of resin-resin and resin-tooth interfaces after partial removal of preexisting resin composites using quantitative image analysis for microleakage testing protocol. Materials and Methods: A total of 80 human molar teeth

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Modelling and monitoring of resin transfer moulding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Modelling and monitoring tools appropriate for the resin transfer moulding composites manufacturing route were developed in this study. A simulation of the curing stage of the process based on a finite elements solution of the non-linear heat ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Utilization of brick waste as pozzolanic material in concrete mix

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Recycling of construction and demolition waste and recycling of industrial by-products into building materials has an enormous potential. Brick waste can be treated by reusing for construction.

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Monitoring dispersion of carbon nanotubes in a thermosetting polyester resin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The paper concerns the initial steps in the preparation of carbon nanotube containing nanocomposites of an isophthalic unsaturated polyester resin, prior to cure.
