Numerical and experimental analyses of resin infusion manufacturing processes of composite materials [PDF]
Liquid resin infusion (LRI) processes are promising manufacturing routes to produce large, thick, or complex structural parts. They are based on the resin flow induced, across its thickness, by a pressure applied onto a preform/resin stacking. However, both thickness and fiber volume fraction of the final piece are not well controlled since they result

Contraction gradient induced microcracking in hardened cement paste [PDF]
Drying induced cracking of concrete surfaces and repair layers is a common problem. A principal cause for this type of cracking is the moisture and resulting contraction gradient that develops in the cement paste matrix upon drying. This phenomenon has been experimentally quantified in unconfined hardened cement paste samples using a fluorescent resin ...

Modelling and simulation of acrylic bone cement injection and curing within the framework of vertebroplasty [PDF]
The minimal invasive procedure of vertebroplasty is a surgical technique to treat compression fractures of vertebral bodies. During the treatment, liquid bone cement gets injected into the affected vertebral body and therein cures to a solid. In order to investigate the treatment and the impact of injected bone cement, an integrated modelling and ...

Thermal Conductivities and Mechanical Properties of Epoxy Resin as a Function of the Degree of Cross-linking [PDF]
Epoxy resins are widely used polymer matrices for numerous applications. Despite substantial advances, the molecular-level knowledge-base required to exploit these materials to their full potential remains limited. A deeper comprehension of structure/property relationships in epoxy resins at the molecular level is critical to progressing these efforts.

Liquid-Solid Phase Transition Alloy as Reversible and Rapid Molding Bone Cement [PDF]
Bone cement has been demonstrated as an essential restorative material in the orthopedic surgery. However current materials often imply unavoidable drawbacks, such as tissue-cement reaction induced thermal injuries and troublesome revision procedure.

Curing and post-curing luminescence in an epoxy resin [PDF]
A spontaneous luminescence is reported when epoxy resin samples are heated in air. This phenomenon is very sensitive to the nature of the atmosphere. The same treatment in nitrogen leads to an extinction of the luminescence. The emission process is restored when samples are kept for a sufficient time in air.

Influence of Resin Cements on Color Stability of Different Ceramic Systems.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate color stability of two dental ceramics cemented with two resin cements, assessing the color difference (ΔE00) by the measurement of L*, a*, b*, c* and h* of transmittance.
