The European Journal of Orthodontics, 2003
The aims of this study were to compare the mean shear-peel bond strength and predominant site of bond failure of micro-etched orthodontic bands cemented with resin-modified glass ionomer cement (RMGIC; Fuji Ortho LC or 3M Multi-Cure), a modified composite or a conventional GIC. The survival time of bands was also assessed following simulated mechanical

Dental Materials, 1998
An 18-month follow-up clinical trial of one conventional glass-ionomer (HIFI Master Palette), three resin-modified glass-ionomers (Fuji II LC, Vitremer, 3M Exp. 155) and one polyacid-modified resin composite (Dyract) was conducted to evaluate their clinical effectiveness in Class-V cervical lesions.

Clinical Oral Investigations, 2018
The objective of this study was to investigate selected physical properties of nine contemporary and recently marketed glass ionomer cement (GIC) and four resin-modified glass ionomer cement (RMGI) dental restorative materials.Specimens (n = 12) were fabricated for fracture toughness and flexure strength using standardized, stainless steel molds ...

[Resin-modified glass-ionomers in dentistry].
Nederlands tijdschrift voor tandheelkunde, 2002The resin-modified glass-ionomers contain the essential components of both a conventional glass-ionomer and a visible light-cured resin. They have several advantages like longer working time, shorter setting time, bonding to tooth structure, fluoride-release, better aesthetics than conventional glass-ionomers and ease in use.

Strength and setting behavior of resin-modified glass ionomer cements
Acta Odontologica Scandinavica, 1995Diametral tensile strength (DTS), fracture strength, and Vickers microhardness were tested in three resin-modified glass ionomer cements (GICs), one chemically set GIC, and one dental composite. For the DTS studies test discs were immersed in deionized water at 37 degrees C for 10 min, 1 day, and 28 days, respectively.

Development of a Self-etch Adhesive for Resin-modified Glass Ionomers
Journal of Dental Research, 2006The favorable self-adhesiveness of resin-modified glass ionomers (RMGIs) might be even further improved if the time-consuming and technically sensitive etch-and-rinse pre-treatment step with polyalkenoic acids could be avoided. We undertook this study to assess the effectiveness of an experimental self-etch adhesive for RMGIs that does not need to be ...

Failure of resin-modified glass-ionomers subjected to shear loading
Journal of Dentistry, 1999The mechanism of bond failure of resin-modified glass-ionomers is unknown. This study examined the failure on shear loading at the dentine interface of these materials. Twenty-five teeth (embedded in acrylic blocks) were sectioned longitudinally to expose a flat dentine surface.

Interaction of resin-modified glass-ionomer cements with moist dentine
Journal of Dentistry, 2004The objective of this study was to report on a novel phenomenon that occurs when resin-modified glass-ionomer cements (RMGICs) are bonded to moist human dentine.Dentine surfaces from extracted third molars were abraded with 180-grit SiC paper. Ten teeth were prepared for each of the two RMGICs tested (Fuji II LC, GC Corp. and Photac-Fil Quick, 3M ESPE).

Bonding of resin composites to resin-modified glass ionomers.
American journal of dentistry, 1995To evaluate the bonding between resin composites and resin-modified glass ionomer restorative materials.Bar-shaped specimens of Fuji II LC, Photac-Fil, and Vitremer were fabricated in a mold. After application of unfilled resin, resin composite (either Silux Plus or Restorative Z100) was condensed into the mold against the glass ionomer substrate and ...

Hydrolytic degradation and cracks in resin‐modified glass‐ionomer cements
Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part B: Applied Biomaterials, 2004AbstractWater‐absorption affects the basic properties of resin‐modified glass‐ionomer cements (RMGICs). Fick's law is usually invoked to explain the absorption process. The purpose of this study is to show that the absorption in accordance with the Fickian model cannot be extended to the whole of the specimen, and that microcrack formation is the main ...
