Class I Gap-formation in Highly-viscous Glass-ionomer Restorations: Delayed vs Immediate Polishing [PDF]
This in vitro study evaluated the effects of delayed versus immediate polishing to permit maturation of interfacial gap-formation around highly viscous conventional glass-ionomer cement (HV-GIC) in Class I restorations, together with determining the ...

Molar incisor hypomineralisation: current knowledge and practice
Background Molar incisor hypomineralisation (MIH) is a common developmental dental condition that presents in childhood. Areas of poorly formed enamel affect one or more first permanent molars and can cause opacities on the anterior teeth. MIH presents a variety of challenges for the dental team as well as functional and social impacts for affected ...

Nanoionomer: Evaluation of microleakage
Background: Glass ionomer cements are widely used in pediatric practice due to their advantage of fluoride release and chemical bond to tooth structure. Adherence of the restorative material to the cavity walls is one of the most important characteristic

Physical Properties of Resin-modified Glass-ionomers.
The physical properties and shear bond strength of two resin-modified glass-ionomers: RMGIs (FJL and VT) and as a control, a conventional glass-ionomer: CGI (FJ), were evaluated. Ninety percent of the setting shrinkage under dry conditions and nominal hygroscopic expansion in water during 360 h occurred within the first 24 h.

Resin Content in Cement Liquids of Resin-Modified Glass Ionomers.
Qualitative and quantitative analyses were conducted on four kinds of resin-modified glass ionomer (RMGI) cement liquids, LC, LC II, LC III (hereinafter referred to as LCs) and VM, using HPLC and laser Raman spectroscopic methods. HPLC revealed that among the RMGI liquids LCs contain 31-32% HEMA (2-Hydroxyethyl methacrylate), and VM contains 18% of the

Resin-modified Glass-ionomer Setting Reaction Competition [PDF]
Resin-modified glass ionomers (RMGI) set by at least 2 mechanisms dependent upon reactant diffusion prior to gelation. Each reaction’s kinetics and setting mechanism may rely on and/or compete with the other. In this study, we investigated RMGI setting reaction interactions using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) by varying light-cure initiation ...

Fiber reinforcement of a resin modified glass ionomer cement
Understand how discontinuous short glass fibers and braided long fibers can be effectively used to reinforce a resin modified glass ionomer cement (RMGIC) for carious lesion restorations. Two control groups (powder/liquid kit and capsule) were prepared from a light cured RMGIC.
