Development of a Novel, All‐Aromatic High Tensile Modulus Liquid Crystalline Polyimide for Fused Filament Fabrication Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel, high tensile modulus, fully aromatic thermotropic liquid crystalline polyimide (LCPI) with better solvent resistance and thermal stability is synthesized. Tensile specimens are fabricated using both injection molding and FFF processes, accomplished via lower viscosity enabled by the LC phase.

A Gym for Cells—Direct Laser Writing of Magnetic Multilayered Micro Actuators for Mechanical Stimulation of Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Surface‐attached multilayer micromagnet systems are fabricated by two‐photon crosslinking. The pillar‐shaped micro actuators consist of a soft and flexible surface‐attached cell‐repellent hydrogel layer at the bottom, acting as a hinge and a cell‐adhesive hydrophobic polymer filled with magnetic nanoparticles.

Effect of catalytic conditions on the synthesis of new aconitate esters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Sugar cane is a crop which generates large amounts of biomass and a juice rich in highvalue natural molecules. After extracting sugar from the juice, the recovering of various compounds such as organic acids contained in molasses could contribute to ...

SEPARATION OF IRON AND COBALT ON SYNTHETIC RESIN [PDF]

open access: yes, 1953
In the separation of mixtures of radioactive iron and cobalt from neutron irradiated targets and in the removal of iron from cobalt targets for cyclotron production of radioiron, it is desirable to have a method superior to extraction from isopropyl ether in efficiency and ease of manipulation.

Shape‐Stabilization of Phase Change Materials with Carbon‐Conscious Poly(hydroxy)Urethane Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Poly(hydroxy)urethane (PHU) foam, derivable from carbon dioxide (CO2) and bio‐based resources, is a promising material platform for shape‐stabilizing phase change materials (PCMs). We demonstrate the encapsulation of both paraffins and calcium chloride hexahydrate in PHU foam, achieving 48 stable thermal cycles by introducing 5 wt.% barium carbonate ...

遺跡等で使用する樹脂のカビへの抵抗性について [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Mould resistance of various synthetic resins that have been used for the conservation of historic sites was tested. The synthetic resins tested this time were: Paraloid B-72 (Rohm&Haas) dissolved in xylene, Paraloid B-72 dissolved in 90% vol.

All‐Cellulose‐Based Photonic Glitters

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Uniform, disc‐shaped photonic CNC glitters with adjustable structural colors and diameters are fabricated on hydrophilic ethyl cellulose films using electrospray deposition. By employing patterned ethyl cellulose films with pre‐designed hydrophilic regions, photonic patterns can be created with these all‐cellulose‐based glitters, demonstrating their ...

Reactions to synthetic membranes dialyzers: Is there an increase in incidence? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Background: Reactions to dialyzers used in dialysis have been reported more frequently in recent years. Evidence, however, shows that the reaction rate has remained stable for years.
