Detecting community structure in complex networks via resistance distance

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 2019
For two vertices i and j in a connected network G , the resistance distance between i and j is defined to be the effective resistance between them when unit resistors are placed on every edge of G .

Resistance distance-based graph invariants and the number of spanning trees of linear crossed octagonal graphs

Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computation, 2019
Resistance distance is a novel distance function, also a new intrinsic graph metric, which makes some extensions of ordinary distance. Let $$O_n$$ O n be a linear crossed octagonal graph.

Some results on resistance distances and resistance matrices

Linear and Multilinear Algebra, 2014
In this paper, we obtain formulas for resistance distances and Kirchhoff index of subdivision graphs. An application of resistance distances to the bipartiteness of graphs is given. We also give an interlacing inequality for eigenvalues of the resistance matrix and the Laplacian matrix.

Resistance distance and spanning 2-forest matrices of linear 2-trees

, 2020
In [3] , [4] the authors found formulas for the number of spanning 2-forests (equivalently for the resistance distance) between any pair of vertices in a “straight linear 2-tree” and in a “linear 2-tree with a single bend.” The main result of this paper ...

Network Science Meets Circuit Theory: Resistance Distance, Kirchhoff Index, and Foster’s Theorems With Generalizations and Unification

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems Part 1: Regular Papers, 2019
The emerging area of network science and engineering is concerned with the study of structural characteristics of networks, their impact on the dynamical behavior of systems as revealed through their topological properties, random evolution of networks ...

An Identity on Resistance Distances

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
On the basis of electrical network theory, Klein and Randić [Journal of Mathematical Chemistry 12 (1993) 81-9 proposed the novel concept of resistance distance. They view a graph as an (resistive) electrical network by considering each edge of the graph as a unit resistor.

Resistance Distances in Vertex-Face Graphs

Zeitschrift für Naturforschung A, 2017
Abstract The computation of two-point resistances in networks is a classical problem in electric circuit theory and graph theory. Let G be a triangulation graph with n vertices embedded on an orientable surface. Define K(G) to be the graph obtained from G by inserting a new vertex vϕ to each face ϕ of G and adding ...

Critical distance for blast-resistant design

Computers & Structures, 1995
Abstract Blast loads have, in the recent past, become important service loads for certain categories of structures. An important task in blast-resistant design is to make a realistic prediction of the blast pressures. The distance of explosion from the structure is an important datum, governing the magnitude and duration of the blast loads.
