Induction motor resistance ring width

Electrical Engineering, 1936
The effect which the width of resistance rings has on the secondary resistance of squirrel cage induction motors has been subjected to a mathematical analysis. It is found that the width, in a radial direction, of these rings which connect the conductors of a squirrel cage rotor, need never exceed the pole pitch, and probably half of that value is ...

Inductance/Area/Resistance Tradeoffs

2016
Tradeoffs among inductance, area, and resistance of power distribution grids are evaluated in this chapter. As discussed in Sect. 1.3, design objectives, such as low impedance (low inductance and resistance), small area, and low current densities (for improved reliability ), are typically in conflict.

Resistivity mapping using inductive sources

Exploration Geophysics, 1989
In electromagnetic (EM) exploration for conductive targets, measurements of the magnetic component or its time derivative have received more theoretical attention and practical application than have measurements of the electric component. However, the electric component can be shown to be particularly useful in the search for resistive zones not ...

Induction by ethylene of cyanide-resistant respiration

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1976
Ethylene and cyanide induce an increase in respiration in a variety of plant tissues, whereas ethylene has no effect on tissues whose respiration is strongly inhibited by cyanide. It is suggested that the existence of a cyanide-insensitive electron transport path is a prerequisite for stimulation of respiration by ethylene.

Hormonal induction of leptin resistance during pregnancy

Physiology & Behavior, 2007
Despite elevated plasma leptin, food intake is increased during pregnancy leading to fat deposition. We have demonstrated that intracerebroventricular (icv) leptin is unable to suppress food intake in pregnant rats, as it does in non-pregnant animals. Hence, central leptin resistance develops during pregnancy.

Induction of resistance in Mycobacterium smegmatis

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 2013
In this work, we assayed the ability of newly prepared indolizine derivates (epimers) 6C and 6A to inhibit the growth of Mycobacterium smegmatis and used them for resistance induction. 6A inhibited the growth of M. smegmatis at a concentration of 100 μg/mL. No inhibitory effect was observed in the presence of 6C. By incubating the bacteria with 6C and

Resistance Against Tolerance Induction in Sjl Mice

Immunological Communications, 1981
Age-dependent resistance against tolerance induction is manifested in SJL mice whether they are immunized with antigen alone or with antigen and lipopolysaccharide. Age-dependent changes in the tolerizability of T cells have been documented in the past; in this paper corresponding changes in B cells have been deduced from the results of reconstitution ...

Induction of Resistance or Susceptibility

Annual Review of Phytopathology, 1983
Unlike animals, plants have no antibody-mediated resistance mechanisms. During their evolution, however, plants acquired not only the ability to adapt to hostile environments, but also versatile defense mechanisms against enemies. Pathogens, On the other hand, have evolved to overcome the physical and chemical barriers the plants invented for their ...

Inductances, loss resistances and Q-factors of induction coils

Measurement Techniques, 1961
The suggested new method of determining Lc, Rc and Qc is applicable to all direct and indirect methods of measuring inductances. Since the values of the latter are very close to each other and are determined in a relatively narrow frequency band by means of the same measuring device, their relative errors ΔL1/L1 and ΔL2/L2 are of the same order and ...
