Measurement of Insulin Resistance In Vivo
Drugs, 1999Insulin sensitivity, which can be impaired in both glucose-intolerant and non-glucose-intolerant individuals, is a valuable parameter because of its potential as a marker for the future development of diabetes and increased cardiovascular risk. Techniques available for the determination of insulin sensitivity include the glucose clamp, insulin ...

Measurement of the ac quantized Hall resistance
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 1999The flatness and frequency dependence of the i=2 and four quantized Hall resistance plateaus have been investigated. It was observed that for frequencies up to 6.4 kHz, a flat region exists at the center of the plateaus where the relative resistance is constant to /spl plusmn/2/spl times/10/sup -8/, and its relative value has a linear frequency ...

FLOOR/SHOE SLIP RESISTANCE MEASUREMENT
American Industrial Hygiene Association Journal, 1992A variety of slip measurement devices exist that provide estimates of both static and dynamic coefficient-of-friction (COF) values between one's shoes and the floor. Unfortunately, different shoe sole/heel materials, floor conditions, and contaminants will affect the tests in ways that result in widely varying COF estimates.

Measuring Resistance to Social Engineering
2005Social engineering (SE) is the name used for a bag of tricks used by adversaries to manipulate victims to make them say or do something they otherwise wouldn't have. Typically this includes making the victims disclose passwords, or give the adversary illegitimate access to buildings or privileged information.

Method for measuring the resistance of resistive sensors in information and measuring systems
Journal of Instrument EngineeringA method for remote measurement of resistance of resistive sensors with their two-wire connection in monitoring systems is considered. The method allows to reduce significantly the influence of line resistance and is based on processing the results of integration of the transient process of discharge of a storage capacitor shunting the sensor.

Measurement of invasion by gentamicin resistance
1994Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on the bacterial penetration of cultured epithelial cells. Gentamicin has been used to study bacterial interactions with other eukaryotic cell types, such as macrophages. The principle of the assay is based on the limited penetration of the aminoglycoside antibiotic gentamicin into eukaryotic cells.

Measurement of Skid Resistance
1962The general problem of skid resistance control consists of the three phases: measurement, comparison, and correction. Existing friction testers are classified and discussed in accordance with their mode of operation. The principal factors that have a bearing on the several types of measured coefficients are dealt with in two groups.
